It was early morning and as the sun shone through the window a grim atmosphere was brewing within the
chamber of the Senior surgeon.
" Where did you find this?" asked Dr Milford.
" Under the bed of the patient,"answered Willy the dorm matron.
"Who was the patient?" he asked.
" Mrs Annette Thompson", she replied.
" Well then send Ms Anastasia Veronski to me right away." he said.
Willy had been working for years and in her experience she had never accounted an incident such as this.It was serious after all the doctor had been reliable for years.She became circumspect over Anastasia Veronski.
Dr.Milford a senior surgeon had worked late night shifts and had never recalled an incident such as this one. After all he had known Bella Smith the senior gynaecologist who had served for a good ten years and had a flawless career.Of course it had to be Anastasia Veronski.She had joined the hospital eight months ago
and had proved to be flexible and diligent.But now there was this sudden occurence which made them
ponder over the grimness of the matter.Before bringing it to the notice of anyone he would have to solve this matter as the hospital reputation was at stake.He looked at the injectible
solution.
Anastasia Veronski was perturbed as Willy told her that she was wanted by doctor Milford.She hurried towards the office at the end of the corridor.
"May I come in sir?" she knocked.
" Right away," answered the doctor
briskly.
" Were you attending to Mrs Thompson?" he asked.
" Yes sir," she answered.
" Did you follow the medicines prescribed by Dr Smith?'he continued.
" Yes of course sir," she answered.
" What is this doing in her room?" he asked seriously.
" Which one?" she began.
She was taken aback.For a moment she summoned courage and said
" Sir I was taking it to Mr Faulk who is on the first floor," she began.
" Well how did it reach Mrs Thompson 's room ?"
It won't happen again," she looked flustered.
" This is a warning to you from now on you are not to attend to the maternity ward."
" Yes of course sir," she answered.
