chapter 23

Harry lay in bed .He was shivering and had high fever.Annette sat beside him nursing him all the time.
He was getting delirious and called out names at intervals.
Annette threw blankets over him and bathed his forehead with cold water.
The fever only worsened and he turned from side to side.
Annette summoned the doctor who came after an hour.
" Dr Alfred please do something,Harry has been ill since last night.He administered quick medication to bring down the fever and prescribed medicine for him.
" Do call me if his condition worsens."
he said reassuringly.
Annette dressed and putting the baby in a pram set off towards the pharmacy nearby.She drove the vehicle steadily and stopped at Windcross.She got out of the car and buying the medicines was about to get into the car when she met Anastasia.
" Hello and how are you doing?" she asked.
" Oh it's Harry he's not well." she replied.
" You look like you need help ,I'll come along and help". she said decisively.
Annette agreed and soon they came to the house.
" Sir has been calling for you." She said .
" Thankyou Boreska please prepare a hot broth for him." replied Annette.
Anastasia took Harry's temperature from time to time recording it and administered medicines prescribed by Dr.Alfred.He seemed to get better everyday.Anastasia even spooned the broth into his mouth.She would be off
For her duties and returned with fresh energy to look after Annette and her family.
Annette was very grateful to Anastasia.
" I was so shocked to see him in such a condition."she said.
" Anything happened at work?" asked Anastasia.
" Not that I know of". she replied.
"Oh don't worry he'll soon get better."
she spoke softly.
They were sitting in the garden watching the baby make its first move.
When suddenly Anastasia got up.
" I have to call the orderly , " she said.
" Yes of course," replied Annette.
Anastasia went to the phone and dialled," Hello who is this?". said the voice.
" I have news of Harry ," she replied.
