William had begun to walk .Layla got busy with her duties towards the Thompsons.Jeffrey was the only one who felt uncomfortable for Annette.
She had almost met her end.He wished he could make her smile again.
A few days passed and William turned one.Layla organized a party in the garden so that everyone could join.
Annette got busy decorating the garden and the cake.It was a lovely buttermilk white crackle cake.
Many members from the church had been invited .
As the sunset broke evenly in the sky streaking it with an orange glow a natural bustle started as families stopped at Layla Hobson's cottage.
Games started and Annette spent time with the neighbourhood children bringing them plenty of smiles ,laughter and fun.The families engaged in exchanging gossip.Mr Thompson and his wife arrived and graced the occasion with great charm.
Mr Thompson looked upon Annette as a daughter and felt that Harry had been unjust.
Harry appeared with a days luggage and became involved in the festivities.
William walked up to him stumbling
" Daddy daddy."
Annette was resolute and fixed.Myra watched as she avoided talking to Harry.
As the evening dwindled to night the couples began dancing in turns as the children got busy playing games.
Harry watched Annette as she looked after William. He walked up to her.
" Annette my dear may I have this dance?"
She didn't answer. She turned away to wipe a tear that fell without warning.
" May I have this dance ?" asked Jeffrey Thompson.
She felt confident again as they glided across the floor.
Harry looked on wordlessly as his world had come to an end.
