colbys been on a work trip with sam for most of december. you've been staying at their place to housesit
the day is christmas eve and colby is supposed to be back this afternoon.
you're laying in his bed till suddenly a text from colby pops up on your phone.
"hey babe bad news, flight got canceled cuz of snow. so me and sam are stuck at the airport for god knows how long.. keep you posted. love you"
you read the message in disbelief. ofc this happened to you
"so you won't be home for christmas? 🙁"
"im so sorry baby. they're doing everything they can"
"snow is no joke"
"i will see you soon i promise."
"i gtg we're next in line, love you ❤️"
"i love you! stay safe"
youre so upset but you manage to get out of bed and get ready for the day.
you start doing some traditions by yourself to keep that festive spirit alive. colby hasn't texted you since this morning but you just assume it's because he's busy.
you start to settle down for the night and turn on a christmas movie. once you're comfy on the couch you hear the doorbell ring. you assume it's an amazon package so you don't bother opening the door just yet.
2 mins later the doorbell rings again and someone knocks. you get up from the couch and look through the peephole. you see nothing but open the door anyways.
you see colby and sam standing right behind him recording.
you stare at colby for a split second then scream in excitement and jump in colby's arms, wrapping your arms around his neck and your legs around his waist. he hugs you tight and carries you inside, sam follows and closes the door behind him
you start to cry cause you're so happy
"what are you doing here! i thought you were stuck at the airport"
"he lied." sam said
"we were never stuck, i just wanted to surprise you"
"you scared me so bad. i thought i was gonna be all alone for 2 more days" you cry
"i would never leave you alone on christmas."
he puts you down and pulls hair behind your ear.
"aww baby don't cry!! i'm sorry for scaring you"
"it's okay!! i'm just so happy right now." you grin and he pulls you into a tight hug.
he rocks you back n forth in the hug on your tippy toes. he kisses the top of your head
you make your way to the couch and fall onto it, still hugging each other. sam stops recording and goes off to do his own thing.
you and colby settle down on the couch and you talk and talk and talk about his trip, christmas stuff and more while the movie is still playing in the back.
you end up falling asleep on his chest. every now and then you feel him playing with your hair and placing kisses on your head
