high school imagine!

It was a typical friday afternoon, you've been home for hours already but colby finally finished band practice. he pulls out his phone to text you, hoping you can hangout or something

"hey baby wanna hang out tonight? maybe go for a drive and get some ice cream? or we could even stay in?"

he hit send and waited for a reply. ten minutes passed, then twenty. colby frowned, checking his phone every few minutes, but still no response. it was very unlike you to ignore his messages, especially when they were making plans.

concern began to gnaw at him. he knew how hard you worked, and how much grades meant to you, always pushing yourself to excel in school. sometimes, you could get so caught up in homework and projects that you forget to take care of yourself.

it's been 2 hours since he texted you and he's real worried. as the clock struck 8pm, colby decided to head over to your house. he knew something was wrong.

when he arrived at your house, he noticed that your bedroom light was on. that gave him some hope.

he knocked on the door, and after a few moments, your mom answered, looking slightly surprised to see him.

"hi ma'am is uh y/n home?" colby asks
"yes, she's in her room. i think she's been working on a project. she hasn't come out since she got home from school," your mom replied with a concerned look. "go on up, maybe you can convince her to take a break, she won't listen to me"

colby thanked her and hurried up the stairs to your room. he knocked softly on your door, but there was no answer. he hesitated for a moment before slowly pushing the door open. the sight of you exhausted at your desk totally made his heart ache.

you were slumped over the desk, surrounded by millions of textbooks, notebooks, and crumpled papers. your laptop screen was filled with a half-finished essay, and your face was pale and drawn. it was clear you'd had been working nonstop for a long time

"hey baby, just me" colby says gently, kneeling down to your level

you stirred slightly, blinking groggily as you looked up at him. "what are you doing here?" you mumbled

"what do you mean what am i doing here? you haven't asnwered me all day. you scared the shit out of me" he says as he pulls a stray hair behind your ear. "you look exhausted, how long have you been doing homework?" he asks worriedly

you glance at the clock "i don't know.. since i got home, i just have a shit ton to do"

he grabbed your hands gently and sighed. "baby you need to take care of yourself too. overworking isn't gonna help ya in the long run"

you looked at him, your eyes red and teary "i just wanted to do it well" you cry "there's so much pressure"

"i know, and you're amazing. but you don't have to do this alone," he said gently. "how about this, i'll help you with what i can, and then we take a break together? we can finish the rest later, after we nap or something, yeah?"

you hesitated, then nodded, too tired to argue. colby smiled and pulled you into a hug, feeling you relax slightly in his arms.

"scratch that, you're way more tired than i thought. let's be done for the night then we can finish everything tomorrow" he says
"but i-"
colby closed your laptop. "enough is enough baby. i'm worried about you. take a break for me please?"
"alright fine" you mumble. "what do you have in mind?"
"i mean we could just lay down and talk about our days."
"but it's 9:00 your curphew is 10:00-"
"don't worry about the curphew. you're more important to me. i just want you comfortable and rested y/n"
"but your dad will kill you, literally ki-"
"my parents aren't home, remember? anniversary trip. just me and gage at home for a week."
"so you can sleepover?!" you ask excitingly
"oh yuh, your mom will love that, let's just get you ready for bed k? then we'll talk about this later" he says while standing back up on his feet then reaches his hands out to you

you took his hands in yours, allowing him to help you off the chair. as you stood, you felt the exhaustion kicking in and you realized how drained you really were.

he guided you to your closet, where he helped you change into some comfy clothes then he guided you to bed. he pulled over the covers motioning you to get in.

you slid under the covers then he gets in behind you. you turn to lay on his chest as he brushes a hand through your hair.

you close your eyes and let yourself drift off. you immediately feel the stress melt away under colby's touch.

colby watches you sleep and smiles. he's relieved that you're finally getting some rest.

half an hour passes and your mom comes into your room quietly to check on you. she pauses when she sees colby in bed with you but her expression softens when she realizes how peaceful you look

"she asleep?" your mom whispers, walking over to your side of the bed
"yeah finally" colby whispers back, still playing in your hair
"thanks for coming colby, she really needed this. we've been worried about her, she's always working"
"of course! i got worried too when she didn't text me back, just wanted to make sure she's okay" he says softly
"did you need a ride home? it's getting pretty late" your mom asks

colby stops and thinks for a minute "actually, would it be okay if i stayed this one night? i just dont want to leave her alone this stressed"

your mom hesitates for a moment, then nods. "alright, you can stay. but you'll need to text your parents and let them know okay?"
"okay I will" he says gratefully.
"alright thanks colby" she replies, walking back to your door "goodnight kids" she says before closing the door quietly

colby takes his phone out of his pocket to text gage

"i'm at y/ns house and im sleeping over can you cover for me"
"yeah if you cover for me tomorrow"
"deal"

colby let's go of you to put his phone on the nightstand, making you kinda stir from the loss of contact. after setting his phone down he wraps his arms around you protectively

"im here" he says gently, giving your forehead a soft kiss "don't go" you whimper half asleep "not going anywhere baby." he assures you, rubbing your back in circles "i love you" he whispers softly but doesn't get a reply cause you're out like a light. he continues to rub your back and eventually falls asleep to your breathing rising and falling

the next morning you wake up feeling more rested than you have in weeks. colby is still there holding you close. as you stir, he wakes up too, smiling down at you.

"good morning baby" he says raspy.
you realized that colby was still by your side and you automatically feel 10x better

"you stayed?!"
"of course i did i couldn't leave you alone like this"

you hug him tight and he smiles against your cheek then gives it a soft kiss "let's just take it easy today yeah?"
