Madeline's POV

It was the day. The day I had been dreading. I was only 18, and I had signed my first contract with Arsenal a week ago. Today was my first training session, and the first time meeting the whole team. I won't even try to hide it, im very nervous. These are players that have played at professional games, players who are experienced. I moved to England with my bestfriend, Eleonor. I went to highschool with her and when she told me she was going to the University of Greenwich, I thought it was a great step into my football career if I accepted the offer from Arsenal. I had already played a few games for the USWNT, so I figured that's why they wanted to offer me a spot on the team.

~~~
I was laying in bed, waiting for the last minute to get ready when I heard Eleonor walking outside my door. I heard her knock on my door.
"Yeah?" I said.
"I made pancakes, come down for breakfast" Eleonor said from behind the door.
"I'll be down in a bit" I said.
I heard her footsteps fade away, I have to face this whether I want to or not, I couldn't let my anxiety get the best of me. I got up from bed and changed out of my pj's, going downstairs i could smell the pancakes that Eleonor had made.
"Morning" i said walking into the kitchen.
"Good morning" Eleonor smiled at me. "Help yourself, please" she offered.
"Thank you" I said as i sat down at the kitchen table with about two pancakes on my plate. Eleonor sat in front of me with a cup of coffee in her hands. I could feel her staring into my soul. I started eating trying to brush her off.
"So." Eleonor said.
I nodded at her.
"Yeah?" i asked.
"How are you feeling?" Eleonor asked me.
"Um, i'm good. Why?" i responded, shrugging a bit.
"Well, today's your first training session." Eleonor nodded.
"Oh that." i sat up on my chair as i kept eating my pancakes.
"I'm not gonna lie, im nervous really nervous. I mean these are professionals, people who know what they're doing. What if i'm not good enough? What if arsenal decides they made a mistake signing me? I don't know maybe i'm overthinking, maybe it's the anxiety..." i said in almost one go.
"Okay, first off. Calm down. Eat breakfast." Eleonor said as she laughed nervously.
"Second, you are a great football player Madeline, Arsenal wouldn't have offered you a spot if they didn't think you were a good football player." Eleonor said, her words calming me down a bit. She was right.
"Are we calling it football now?" I smiled at Eleonor.
"We're in England now. I think we have to" Eleonor smiled and laughed.
"Just a week ago, you were making fun of me for saying football El" i finished up my pancakes.
"Well...im a changed woman" Eleonor said.
