Madeline's POV

It was Wednesday, I was just about done getting ready for the little coffee date leah and I had planned. I had worn something casual since it was just coffee, i walked downstairs and grabbed the keys. Leah had already texted me saying she was outside, so i opened the door and turned to lock it. Just as i was about to step out onto the sidewalk to cross the road, i got caught off guard by this guy walking to my house.

I turned to him and he was smiling.

"Hey sorry- um" he said, sounding pretty nervous. I was honestly having so much anxiety, there was this guy i didn't know walking to my house and he was talking to me.

"Do you need something?" i asked.

"Uhm well i wanted to introduce myself, uhm i'm your new neighbor..." he looked to the house right next to mine. "I just moved in with my friend, James." he said. I recognized his accent, he wasn't from England. "Sorry to stop you- you seem to be in a rush but i just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Owen." he reached out his hand.

I looked around and looked back at him, i reached for his hand and shook it. "Nice to meet you..." i nodded and looked at leah in her car, she was staring at me. I heard Own clear his throat and smile down at me, he was quite tall. "Oh sorry- my name is Madeline.." i said.

"Nice to meet you Madeline...do you live alone?" owen asked me.

"No i have a roommate." i said. "Well it was nice to meet you, i actually have to go.." i said.

"Yeah- no yeah of course, uh i'll see you around.." owen smiled before he walked away. I stepped onto the road looking both ways before walking towards leah's car.

"Hey.." i said after shutting the car door.

"Who wa that?" leah asked.

"Uh my new neighbor apparently..." i looked out the window, another guy had walked out of the house. I'm guessing that was James. "He's a bit...awkward to be honest."

"He's a weirdo for walking up on you like that..." leah said starting the car.

"Yeah..." i said continuing to look at the house next to mine. I hadn't even realized nobody lived there, i was too busy with my own life to realize it.

Fast forward to the coffee shop, Leah and I were sitting in our usual spot at the coffee shop where we first had our conversation. I got deja vu as i sat down, but we took a look at the menu and ordered our drinks and something to eat along with them.

"So, you wanna tell me what you're gonna wear to New Years Eve?" i asked leah.

Leah smiled and snickered. "I'm not telling you...what about 'surprise' do you not understand?"

"Oh come on...i mean what if we accidentally show up in the same thing?"

"That won't ever happen....like ever."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means, we don't have the same style...you wear lots of...dark clothes...and i don't." leah said.
