Chapter 68 - Golden

DAY OF THE FINAL

Madeline's POV

The whistle blew, my ears filled with the sound of people screaming, along with my teammates running towards me. We all hugged each other in a small huddle, we had finally done it. We had won the gold medal for the olympics, my first gold medal ever. There was so many emotions going through my head, i wouldn't have been able to explain how i was feeling in the moment. 

I felt, proud, happy, excited, sad, grateful...

"We fucking did it..." i said as i hugged trinity, i felt tears forming in my eyes but i tried blinking them away. Trinity wrapped her arms around me tightly, suddenly i felt someone else come from behind me and hug me. 

"We deserved this." i heard mal say. 

"We fucking won..." i said, we all pulled away. I was in a bit of a shock, i couldn't believe it. 

"We did it baby..." trinity rubbed my back.

"I'm so nervous i think i'm gonna forget the national anthem..." emily turned to me and said. 

We were all lined up, ready to receive our medals, after that we had to sing our national anthem. Usually i just zoned out during normal matches but i wanted to sing it this time, i was representing. All I wanted to do was get my hands on my medal and celebrate for the rest of the night. 

"I don't even know if i remember the whole thing..." i smiled at emily. 

"We'll be okay." emily said, i don't know if she was trying to convince me or herself. 

Finally came the time to receive my medal, i saw emily shake the man's hand and he moved over to me. 

"Congratulations." he smiled.

I leaned down and felt him put the medal on me, i smiled and nodded.

"Thank you." i said. 

I straightened myself up and turned to emily and smiled, she gave me a little side hug and rubbed my back.

"Yeah, i'll be in there in a minute..." i told sophia as she boarded the bus. There was still some people coming out, i wanted to call leah to just...talk to her. I wish she could've been here but, i understood she had to start getting ready. I had to make it quick though, the girls were ready to celebrate.

Phone Call

'Leah?'

"Hey, Congratulations you have no idea how proud I am and how proud you've made me!" 

I heard leah scream into the phone, I smiled widely at her words.

"Thank you, I fucking love you so much, I can't believe we fucking did it...all the training- it all paid off...'

'Of course it paid off, you deserve it my girl, i can't wait to see you with that gold medal tomorrow...'
