Chapter 19 - Mistakes

Madeline's POV

I had stood there next to the bed, thinking so hard of who i could've given my number to. The last person i gave it to was Keira, but i had already made her a contact in my phone and this said it was unknown. I must've stared at the text message for long because leah had already came out of the shower, and i didn't even notice it.

"Hey....what are you looking at.." leah said walking over to me, she was only wearing a towel around her waist and her chest was fully exposed. 

I looked at her chest and scoffed. "Get decent." i smiled. 

"Oh, you weren't saying anything last night.." leah said.

"Mmm...i mean i don't mind either way.."

Leah smiled and kissed my forehead. "What were you looking at." 

I was hoping our little conversation seconds ago might've made her forget. I didn't want her worrying about me, i can stand my own. Besides it was probably someone i knew, so they'd eventually talk to me in person if it was urgent.

"Nothing...just eleanor texting me  happy new years." i lied straight to her face.

"Oh, when is she coming back?"

"El comes back the 6th, i can't wait to see her again." i said beginning to dry myself with the towel. "She's actually been seeing this guy and i haven't had much time to see her before she left." i said. "Do you think i can borrow some of your clothes?" 

"Of course, borrow anything." leah said to me. "I'm actually gonna go out i need to buy some groceries, you wanna come with?" 

"Is it gonna be fun?" 

"Not really." leah shook her head and smiled at me. 

"Then i think i'll stay here...i can watch something on the tv don't worry." i said.

"Okay, i won't be long anyway." leah said.

Once leah left, i went to the living room and turned the tv on. I went straight to netflix to search for something to watch. I had laid my head on the couch arm and i put a movie on. I took the time to respond to my friends back home, my friends here. Alessia had texted me, she had been spending the holiday with her family. Lauren texted me as well as Charles and Clarissa. 

I had been 40 minutes into the movie when i heard my phone ringtone go off. I wondered who would be calling me, Eleonor was the first person i would expect to call me. But i knew she'd be knocked dead asleep in her bed, especially if she didn't have school.

I looked at my screen, it was the same number.

The same unknown number that texted me. 

A rush of anxiety came through the my whole body, i felt as if i was in a horror movie or being stalked. 

I answered.
