Madeline's POV

Jessie and I had met that one day we played against chelsea, it was the day after we played reading that i decided to text her. We started texting after that, almost everyday. Nobody knew about our friendship, if you would even call that a friendship. I was just testing the waters with jessie, she was sweet and kind, i didn't know if she was into girls. And i couldn't really go around asking people if they're gay, but jessie seemed different. We started inviting each other to our houses, eleonor met her the second time we hung out. We had made cookies and eleonor walked into the kitchen, i had introduced then and they actually seemed to like each other. Nobody but eleonor knew that we had 'something'.

I felt a light tapping on my hand, i opened my eyes and blinked. My vision was blurry but i remembered we were on a plane. I turned and saw jessie, she was smiling and nodded.

"We're here." she said. I sighed in relief, i had slept for almost the whole flight. I remembered me and jessie started talking for a while when we boarded the plane, but after that i remember knocking out. It was nice flying with someone i knew, i'd only have a day in houston but i was supposed to spend that day with my parents. Jessie was staying in houston though, Canada was playing there anyway.

"I'm so tired..." i said stretching my arms.

"You slept for the whole flight." jessie smiled.

I shrugged. "It wasn't enough.." i smiled. "Can't believe i'm back here...i don't even know what i'm gonna say to my parents i don't want it to be awkward..." i sat up in my seat as some of the other passengers started getting off.

"Well, they're your parents...nothing different since the last time you saw them right?" jessie asked.

"Yeah..." i said, she had no clue what i was gonna tell my parents. I didn't want to scare her off though, so i didn't say anything.

"Our rental car is ready." jessie said checking her phone. "You're gonna stay with me for today right?" she asked me.

I nodded. "If that's okay..."

"Of course it's okay.." jessie gave me a warm smile.

"Okay..i'm just gonna go to my parents house and come back, maybe like a few hours." i nodded. "It's night time now, so i guess we can sleep for a few hours until 8 i'll probably leave to their house and then come back to the hotel whenever." i said.

"Okay sounds like you got it planned out pretty good.." jessie nodded at me. "We can go to the hotel right now, and i can drop you off tomorrow.."

"Yeah, that'd be great." i smiled.

After getting off the plane, we both grabbed our luggage and got into our rental car, jessie was the one driving. We were in downtown houston in minutes, it felt weird being back here. I remembered sometimes we and my friends would be here at night, it was weird only coming here as a 'visitor'.

"Does anything look different?" jessie asked me.

"Nothing really..it's all still the same." i said looking out the window, it felt weird being in the passenger seat on the right. I had gotten used to sitting on the left. Jessie had parked in the hotel, we were in downtown and were surrounded by tall buildings. It was night now, surprisingly the street we were in wasn't packed. We both got out luggage and walked into the lobby, jessie did all the checking in talking. I stood next to her until she got the room key, she was leading the way and i was just following her.
