It had been a few hours since her encounter with Giancarlo.

Yuri kept on pacing the room back and forth, contemplating what is going to be her next move. If it is indeed true that the mafia boss does not have anything to do with her father's death, then it must mean that she needs to go back to square one.

She sat on the bed, massaging her temples. The night her father died isn't a really good memory for her to relieve, but it's not as if she has another choice. She had to think about whether something was amiss. Her mind raced as she tried to piece together the events of that fateful night.

It was raining hard that night. She was calling her father but for a strange reason he is not picking up. When it is almost midnight and he hasn't come home yet, she decided to go to the precinct already where his father is working as a janitor. She put on a thick wool jacket and was about to go out of the door when a police car arrived on their doorstep.

She couldn't recall what happened during that conversation. She couldn't hear the words that followed after one of the police officers said her father was dead. Her mother's cries could be heard all the way down the street, but all she could hear was the thumping beat of her heart, as if it wanted to escape from her chest. As she stood there, frozen in shock, her mind raced with questions. How could this be happening? What had happened to her father? She tried to piece together the events leading up to this moment, but everything was a blur. All she knew was that her world had been turned upside down in an instant.

When she realized she couldn't afford to break down when her mother was like that, she went to the precinct, where the captain at the time, Matthew Kelley, told her the whole story, even though a lot of information given to her does not make sense.

But apparently, it happened when they raided one of Giancarlo's drug dens, where the situation got intense and the parties involved exchanged bullets. His father was killed on the spot. During that time, she even argued with herself about whether to believe that or not, but after a long time, she stood her ground and believed that his father would never dare do such a thing.

She remembered telling the captain that they should investigate more. He agreed, but then she was told that it could be difficult because his father was involved in the mafia, and the reason he was there that night was because he stole the mafia's goods. That it was not even the police who killed him but one of Giancarlo's men.

"Signorina."

Upon hearing that voice, that's when Yuri realized that she had been holding her breath the entire time and her face was soaked with tears. She hurriedly wiped them away and then Favio extended his hand, holding a handkerchief.

Yuri did not hesitate to accept it. She even blew her nose with it.

"I am sorry. I promise to wash it first before I return it." she said sheepishly but Favio just smiled at that.

"You can keep it if you want to. Anyway, I brought some food that I personally prepare so I hope you will eat some."

Before he could answer, Favio called out to the maid standing by the door pushing a serving cart. Yuri's eyes widened as the cart was filled with all of her favorite foods. The cart stopped in front of her then the maid curtsied before going out of the room leaving her and Favio alone.

She was about to tell him that the foods were her favorites, but she suddenly wondered if it was all a coincidence, especially the strawberry and chocolate drink topped with cream and berries, which she makes herself because it is not commonly served around cafes in New York.

She let out a sigh. Of course, the mafia boss could have already ordered an investigation into her. She wonders how much he already knows about her and how intimate those details are. As much as it irritates her, she realizes Giancarlo would naturally do that after her futile attempt to kill him.
