Part II: Armistice Between Foes

The Costa Crime Family are people anyone should not mess with. Their reputation precedes them as a ruthless and violent criminal family that has been around for almost a century already.  The family has established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of organized crime.

Despite numerous attempts by law enforcement agencies to bring them down, the Costa Crime Family has managed to stay one step ahead of the authorities. They operate with a strict code of silence and loyalty, making it impossible for outsiders to infiltrate their ranks.  Over the years, they have even expanded their operations into multiple countries, including Russia, Spain, and South America.

Their reach is vast, and their power is immense. Despite their reputation as ruthless criminals, however, many members of the Costa Crime Family are seen as heroes within their own communities, especially because they tend to protect people in Sicily who need it.

They are also known for being a sacred Roman Catholic who has been very supportive of the church in all its financial needs. So while their methods may be questionable, there is no denying that they have a strong sense of community and are willing to go to great lengths to protect those they care about.

Whether they could be called heroes or villains depends on one's perspective and values.

Yuri sighed exasperatedly as Favio's words kept echoing in her mind.

"Giancarlo killed a woman with black hair before."

It's not as if she has high regards for the mafia boss, nor is it a shock to her that he has already killed someone, as she's certain that it's not the first time someone like Giancarlo would take a life, but there is something about the words "woman" and "black hair" that does not sit well on her tongue.

When she asked Favio about the details of it, he refrained from telling her anything more. He even told her that it's not his story to tell, and if she would like to really know what happened, it would be better to ask Giancarlo himself.

But after that confrontation in the living room, she's been making sure that their paths are not going to cross. She's been avoiding Giancarlo like the plague, even though she knows that he's been asking Favio and the others about her.

She's just unsure what to tell him. It's not as if she had any regrets going to Aleksei's headquarters since she did it out of her free will.

Although she knows that she needs to face him if she wants to move forward. After all, she is still technically working for him and it's not as if she could avoid him forever.

"Okay, fine, let's do this," she told herself as she rose from her bed and walked towards the door to go out. She just saw Favio this morning, so she's certain that Giancarlo is around.

Even if she doesn't know what to say to him, it's better than putting a barrier between them. Regardless of her opinion about him and the way he treats her, she couldn't deny the fact that she needs him more than he needs her.

She just realized that she doesn't know where Giancarlo's room is as she is moving down the hallway. She moved in the direction of his office, but since there was no light coming through the opening under the door, it was more likely that the room was empty.

"If you are looking for the boss, he is taking a dip in the pool," a maid said, seeing her standing in front of the door.

"Oh, thank you," she said appreciatively and resumed walking downstairs.

It's already past midnight, and when she went out of the door, she hugged herself instantly as she was welcomed by the cool breeze. She took a deep breath and savored the refreshing air. The moon was shining brightly, casting a silver glow on the surroundings.
