When she snapped her eyes open, a white ceiling loomed above her, making her confused about where she was and what happened before that.

When the events of what happened in the ice cream shop and Giancarlo having one of his soldiers sedated came rushing back to her, she sat up in a panic, frantically searching for any signs of Giancarlo or her surroundings, but there wasn't even a window anywhere, and the only objects inside the room were the bed she was lying on and a small table beside it.

She has never been to a room like that in the villa, so she couldn't be sure if they were there or if she had been taken somewhere else entirely. But regardless, she knew she had to find a way to escape.

The door then opened, and Giancarlo entered. As anger rose from her chest, she practically leapt off the bed, and once their bodies were close enough, she gave him a solid slap across the face, that the corner of his lips started to bleed.

"How dare you inject me with that sedative! So, you are really going to hurt me and your child? What the fuck, Giancarlo!"

Giancarlo let out a heavy sigh, and when he was about to touch her face to comfort her, she instinctively flinched away, not wanting his touch anywhere near her.

"I wouldn't do that if I knew that it would put you and our child in danger. That sedative isn't as dangerous as you think. You were only out for half an hour."

She's not sure whether he was telling the truth, but Giancarlo does not have a reason to lie to her about that either, so she decides to cautiously believe him.

"Where did you take me?" she asked instead.

"We are in the villa. I already called Agatha, and I told her that you are with me and she has nothing to worry about."

She threw a skeptical glance at him. "I want to leave."

"You are not a prisoner inside this room, and you are free to roam around the villa as you please."

"You know that is not what I mean. I don't feel safe here with you."

Hurt was evident on his face, and to her surprise, tears glistened in his eyes. "I never intended to make you feel that way, mia cara. But I couldn't last another day without you anymore. Just come back to me and I promise to do everything in my power to make you feel safe and loved. I would never do anything to hurt you again. You mean everything to me. You and our child are my life, and without you both, I am lost. Please give me a chance to make things right and prove to you that I can be the partner you deserve."

To add more to her shock, Giancarlo got on one knee and clutched both of her hands as if his life depended on it.

"I will do everything you ask of me. I would even die for you. Just don't say that you do not want me anymore. I can take anything but losing you and our child. Yuri, please."

His grip on her hand tightened, but unlike last time, it didn't hurt her, nor did she feel any fear. Instead, she could sense the desperation and sincerity in his voice.

"Stand up, Giancarlo."

Giancarlo looked up at her, and he slowly released her hands as he stood up, waiting for her response.

Yuri knows that she might be misplacing her trust in him, but seeing the genuine desperation and sincerity in him, she decided to judge what's in front of her right now.

She cupped his face with both of her hands, looking into his eyes. "Have the chef prepare a steak for me. I am starving."

At first, Giancarlo was just looking at her until his lips curled into a small smile. He pulled her closer to him, kissing her forehead gently and caging her in his arms.
