The Domingo residence is a two-story house with a spacious lawn and a charming front porch. Aside from the door in front of the entrance, there is another door located at the back of the house, both of which were locked when Yuri checked them.
Although it shouldn't be a problem for her since she knows how to pick locks just by using a double-pronged hairpin, which she usually has on her hair to tame her unruly baby bangs.
She looked through the windows to see if there was any sign of movement inside the house, but there was no one around, even though a faint light was visible from one of the rooms, so probably the people were on the second floor of the house.
She wasted no time and started to carefully insert the hairpin into the lock of the front door. As she skillfully maneuvered the pin, she felt a satisfying click, indicating that the lock had been successfully picked. With a quiet sigh of relief, she gently turned the doorknob and cautiously pushed open the door.
The house is somehow big given that there are only two people occupying it, but maybe that is where Crisanto spent the money he earned from working abroad and maybe the hush money he received for keeping quiet about what really happened to her father.
For a moment, she was almost consumed by anger, but she was quick to remind herself that she needed to focus. Now that she is closer to the truth, she needs to be stronger for the sake of her father.
Yuri roamed around the first floor to check if she missed anything, but there was no one else in sight. Without making a sound, she ascended the staircase to the second floor. As she reached the top, she could feel her heart pounding in anticipation of what might happen once Crisanto learned of her presence.
Getting the pistol out of her jacket, she looked around and saw that the second floor of the house had two rooms. She walked towards the first door and pushed it open.
Her face softened when she saw the sleeping figure of a little girl curled up in a cozy bed, hugging a stuffed animal.
She entered the room without making any sound and adjusted the temperature of the air conditioner because the room was almost freezing already. She then walked towards the bed and pulled the blanket up to cover the little girl, making sure she stayed warm.
When she had ensured that she was comfortable, she quietly tiptoed out of the room, closing the door behind her.
Yuri momentarily stopped upon realizing that the person in the next room is none other than Crisanto Domingo. After removing her face mask, she walked to the second room and opened the door without any hesitation. Crisanto is probably a light sleeper given that he immediately woke up as soon as the door creaked open. Startled, he sat up in bed and squinted at her, trying to make out who she was in the dimly lit room.
Crisanto looked like he was about to yell at her, but she pointed her pistol at him, silencing any words that were about to escape his lips. The room fell into a tense silence as Yuri's eyes locked onto Crisanto's, her finger hovering over the trigger.
"Nasa cabinet ang pera. Kunin mo at umalis ka na," (The money is in the cabinet. Get it and leave) Crisanto whispered, his voice barely audible.
Yuri tilted her head to the side. "I understand what you mean, but let's speak English so your memories of the time you were in the States will be refreshed. Who killed Juan Carlos Rivera?"
Hearing her say the name of his father, Crisanto's eyes widened in surprise because, even in the darkness, she could see how his face turned pale.
"Before you think of lying to me, I know that you were the last person he talked to before he was murdered. What happened?"
