"Giancarlo Costa is a mafia boss, Mr. Torricelli. I never expected him to be a good person, so why should I care about whom he killed or what he's been through?" she said, her voice filled with indifference. She had long accepted the dark reality of Giancarlo's world and had no interest in delving into the details of his past actions or personal struggles unless he opened up about them himself.
She saw the corner of Giancarlo's lips curl into a faint smile, as if her words had amused him.
"I mean, I am also a criminal myself and have killed people too, so it's not really a big deal to me," she added nonchalantly.
Luigi was obviously not impressed by her reaction, as perhaps he was expecting that after he exposed Giancarlo's past, she would react in shock or disbelief. If she was the kind of person she is right now when Cassius cheated on her back then, she could've done what Giancarlo did, as she knows the pain of betrayal.
"You are such an interesting woman. You know, I had planned to not let you live, but seeing how unfazed you are with all of this, I guess I can adjust my plans," Luigi said, letting out a cold smile.
Yuri narrowed her eyes as she stared back at Luigi, her expression turning cold.
"It isn't always that I am interested in a woman like you who has a smart mouth and a strong sense of self. Perhaps it would be great to have you on my side as my wife. What do you think? If you agree to that, I'll let Giancarlo live."
She could see how Giancarlo was trembling in anger as his fists clenched despite that his body was weakened by the drugs already.
Yuri's heart raced as she contemplated Luigi's offer, weighing the consequences of her decision. She knew that accepting would mean sacrificing her freedom, but it could also save Giancarlo's life.
"If you truly mean that proposal, why don't you start with the decency to unhand me and allow me to put on some clothes?"
Luigi raised a brow at that and inched his face closer to Yuri's, a smirk playing on his lips.
"You're in no position to make demands, my dear. But I suppose a little courtesy wouldn't hurt."
He then called for his men. The door opened, and he instructed them to remove the restraints from Yuri's wrists. For a moment there, she saw that as an opportunity to escape, but after the two men unlocked her wrists, they positioned themselves strategically around the room with their weapons drawn, making it clear that any attempt to flee would be met with force.
Luigi leaned back in his chair, his smirk growing wider as he observed Yuri's realization that escape was no longer an option.
She massaged her wrists to soothe the soreness caused by the restraints. The wounds would obviously turn into scars, but she knew that physical pain was a small price to pay for her freedom.
"How can I make sure that you will not harm Giancarlo in any way if I decide to accept your proposal?"
Luigi chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You have my word," he replied smoothly. "I could even have his men sign a non-aggression pact with mine."
"Touch her, and I will kill you myself," Giancarlo chimed in, his voice filled with a dangerous edge. Luigi's smile faded slightly as he locked eyes with Giancarlo, realizing the seriousness of his threat.
"I have already touched her, and I assure you that I like it. I could've done more if I wanted to."
Giancarlo's expression hardened. The tension in the room escalated as both men stared each other down.
"Why are you even eager to keep her by your side? Your family would not even accept her. If she wouldn't die in my hands, your siblings would do the job for me. But since I do not have the plan of doing that anymore, wouldn't you agree that she would be safer with me?"
