"I am sorry, Yuri. I did not expect that someone would recognize me while we were out in public," Aleksei said apologetically.
Yuri chuckled and patted him on the back, saying, "Well, it looks like your fame is spreading far and wide. It's always nice to see how much your fans appreciate you. That is nothing for you to apologize about. That made me remember that one time I saw Taylor Swift in the mall but I was not able to approach her because I was shy and starstruck. That's why I admired your fan who surely conjured all the courage she could muster to approach you."
He just smiled at that, grateful that Yuri seemed to not really mind, but he knew that they had to go already before they attracted too much attention.
"It is really nice to have my evening spent with you, Signorina, but I think it's best to go back already. If some other people recognized me, we might end up causing a scene that would make the boss angry. Plus, I wanted this night to be about us."
Yuri nodded at that, and when Aleksei stood up from his seat, she did the same with the ice cream cup still in their hands.
Once they were already outside the establishment, one of Giancarlo's men opened the door of the Range Rover and gestured for them to get inside. Aleksei let Yuri go in first, ensuring her safety, before getting in himself.
"Oh no, we forgot to buy a pint of this, but it's alright. I'll have Giancarlo buy it instead," Yuri said with a smile as she continued to enjoy her ice cream. She knew that Giancarlo would be more than happy to fulfill her request, as he always went above and beyond to make sure she was taken care of.
It was exactly seven fifty-nine when they arrived in the villa, and looking at how everyone seemed to let out a relieved sigh seeing her, Yuri knows that the past hour and a half has been a living hell during her absence.
She wonders what Giancarlo has been doing all this time and why everyone seems so on edge. As she walked towards the main entrance of the house, she saw him standing near the door, his brows furrowed and his hands clenched tightly.
"This ice cream is delicious, and it looks like the baby also likes it," she said cheerfully, even showing Giancarlo her now empty cup.
Instead of responding, he pulled her face towards him and gave him an open-mouthed kiss, filled with both longing and frustration.
"Yeah, it tastes delicious, especially tasting it from your lips," he said, knowing that the people around them heard, especially Aleksei, who was just behind her, but of course, Giancarlo didn't care. Now that she is thinking about it, he might have done it as a way to send a message to Aleksei, subtly making it clear that he had claimed her.
She wanted to hit him on the head for being immature and possessive but she only shook her head in the end.
She looked back at Aleksei and thanked him for the wonderful evening. They may not have spent a long time together but he truly enjoyed his company. She wanted to at least give him a peck on the cheek but she decided against it as Giancarlo would surely misinterpret the gesture.
Additionally, she's quite sure that it's not good that a mafia's woman like her to be seen being too affectionate with another man, especially in public.
"Thank you for keeping your promise to me, Signorina. I hope next time you will have the chance to watch my race, but for now, please do take care of yourself."
Before she could answer that, Giancarlo had already dragged her into a tight embrace. "I have been waiting so long for you., Signorina. Can we go to bed now?"
Yuri almost rolled her eyes at that, but she decided to play along. Anyway, it's almost her bedtime already, and she has already started to feel tired.
"Sure, Giancarlo. Let's go to bed."
