"Signorina, please. There was really nothing going on between Emilia and Giancarlo. The reason they were meeting is because Giancarlo had been trying to figure out what event triggered the proposal when it could have been done a long time ago already. He was thinking that it was Luca Moretti who planned that because he wanted to have you in return. We have been hearing that the firstborn of the Moretti has taken a liking to you, Signorina. Although Emilia is really hell bent on marrying Giancarlo. Last time, she threatened to make a scene in front of the mansion if Giancarlo wouldn't meet her. Knowing your situation right now, the boss figured that you wouldn't like it so he decided to handle it himself, quietly."
Yuri still remained silent at that as she refused to explain herself further when evidently both Giancarlo and Favio failed to understand that she did not care about those reasons, but the mere fact that Giancarlo kept her in the dark was a betrayal to her.
"Signorina, please," Favio pleaded, even pulling her gently by the arm, trying to convey his sincerity.
"Giancarlo made a mistake, and there is no excuse for what he did to you. But please give him a chance to explain himself and apologize."
Yuri's eyes softened slightly, but she pulled her arm away from Favio's grasp.
"I do not know what to tell you, Favio. I just really want to go home. Please do not make this any more difficult for me." Yuri's voice wavered with a mix of exhaustion and vulnerability.
She looked down, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her shirt. "I need time to process everything and decide if I can forgive Giancarlo. Right now, I cannot do that here, so please let me go."
She grabbed the velvet box on the table and walked towards the door, leaving Favio standing there, speechless.
She went to Nonna Fiorella's room, and once she was in front of the door, she took a deep breath and knocked softly. Nonna Fiorella opened the door, her eyes filled with concern as she took in Yuri's appearance.
"Come in, my dear," she said gently, wrapping her arms around Yuri in a comforting embrace. Maybe it was the comfort and warmth of her touch that made her tears finally spill over. She sobbed into Nonna Fiorella's shoulder, releasing all the pent-up emotions that had been weighing her down.
"You have been through a lot today, my dear. How I wish there was something I could do to ease your pain."
Yuri parted from Nonna Fiorella and peered into her eyes. "Just welcoming me here with open arms is already enough, Nonna. Although there is a favor that I must ask of you."
Nonna Fiorella seemed confused at first until she saw the velvet box that she was holding.
"Luca Moretti gave it to me when he won the auction. I really have nothing to do with it, and I do not think that I should be the owner of it. But I know that it wouldn't take long before someone else would come along and claim it."
Nonna Fiorella shook her head and returned it to her, but she did not want to take it back.
"I know that you had your hopes up for me and Giancarlo, Nonna, but unfortunately, I do not think that I will be marrying him anymore. Please take care of yourself."
She took advantage of the fact that Nonna Fiorella was surprised by what she just said. After giving her one last hug, she turned and walked away, leaving Nonna Fiorella standing there in disbelief.
The people in the mansion could only watch as she walked towards the door with a determined stride, her head held high.
"Yuri," Valentina called her, and she is now walking in her direction with concern in her eyes.
