"What are you doing here?" Giancarlo asked with an unmistakable edge to his voice.
"Do not answer my question with another question. What did you bring him here for?" she growled back, walking towards Cassius, who is already unconscious on the floor as there is a pool of blood formed beside him. She checked for a pulse, and she sighed in relief when she found that he was still breathing, although the state of his body did not look good.
Obviously, the mafia boss did not hold back with the blows he gave him.
She looked at Giancarlo with strained anger when he still did not answer her question. "Now, are you just going to look at me? What the hell is this about, Giancarlo? We did not talk about this," she hissed through gritted teeth.
Giancarlo remained silent and darted his eyes around the room as if trying to figure out who had told her about what was happening in the room.
No one actually told her about it. She initially had the purpose of going to Giancarlo to seek his advice about what to do with Cassius, so she went to his office, and the next thing she sees is Giancarlo punching Cassius as if the guy is a living punching bag.
"Did something happen while I was gone?" she asked once again.
"You just took off without telling me anything."
She let out a heavy sigh at that. "I was in a rush and it slipped my mind. But still, I do not see the connection between that and what happened to Cassius. I do not take you for someone who is just going to do something like this without any explanation, so what is it?"
The tension in the room was palpable as Giancarlo's men started to exchange looks with each other as they could feel the anger radiating from their boss and Yuri, who is determined to know what the underlying cause of his rampage is.
But Giancarlo does not have a plan to let her know anything as he just smirks and turns his back.
"Chiama il dottore e assicurati che quel bastardo viva." (Call the doctor and make sure that bastard survives)
She watched as the others gathered Cassius and carefully carried him out of the room. She crossed her arms across her chest, as she did not know what to feel.
"The doctor is set to arrive in thirty minutes. Do not worry about your friend, Signorina. He will be alright. If Giancarlo really wanted to kill him, he would've just shot him," said Favio.
"What even happened to your boss?" she asked in return, but it's evident on Favio's face that he is just as confused as she is.
"It's hard to say for certain. I also didn't know that he had that person brought here until the others told me. But what about you? I heard that you suddenly left in a rush last time, and perhaps that was also what triggered him. He seemed quite upset when he found out you were gone."
"I received a call from my mother, and I thought she was in danger, but it turns out, I worried for nothing."
Favio nodded at that. "I am glad that both of you are alright. Well, if you want to talk to the boss, then it's for you to decide. I am sorry if I couldn't provide any useful information for now."
She smiled and even tapped his shoulder. "You have told me enough. Please make sure that person lives. I am sure that you are aware that he's my ex-boyfriend. As much as I want him gone, I do not like the fact that I have something to do with it."
Favio smiled warmly at her; his eyes filled with understanding which she was thankful for. "You can count on me," he reassured her. "I won't let you down."
With that, they parted ways. Yuri just wished that this would soon come to an end without any further complications.
