Sex with Giancarlo had always been an electrifying experience, but Yuri felt that something had changed in the way they did it since they became a couple. The passion and intensity that once fueled their encounters seemed to have evolved into a deeper, more intimate bond.
When she snapped her eyes open, Giancarlo was nowhere to be found, but when she looked at herself, she was already dressed in a new night gown, and she didn't feel sticky anywhere. She smiled at that, knowing that the mafia boss really cared about her comfort and well-being.
Still feeling a numbing pain between her legs, she slowly got up from the bed and made her way to the window to drape the curtains open so the sunlight could flood the room. She was about to walk to the bathroom when she noticed something on the table.
With a smile on her lips, she picked up the bouquet of red roses and breathed in their sweet fragrance. Attached to the bouquet was a note from Giancarlo that told her to take her time resting and an apology that he had to leave without waking her up.
Hugging the bouquet close to her chest, she decided to go out of the room and down the stairs to have a maid provide a vase for her to put the roses in.
"Breakfast is almost ready too, Signorina. Would you rather have it in the dining room or would you prefer to have it in your room?" the maid asked, her voice filled with warmth and kindness.
Yuri smiled gratefully and replied, "I think I'll have breakfast in the dining room today," she answered, then the maid nodded and led Yuri towards the dining room.
She wishes that her mother and Hana were still around, but they already left the villa a few days ago. She wanted to stop her mom from leaving, but she said that she wants to go back to the apartment as the villa is too big for her.
"Can I have my apple juice instead?" Yuri asked when a maid was about to pour her cup with coffee. The maid nodded and quickly brought a pitcher of refreshing apple juice for her.
After a few minutes, the other maids came in, bringing the breakfasts they had prepared for her. She was about to dig in when the scent of the burger steak wafted through the air.
The instant the aroma of garlic hit her nose, she rose from her seat and ran towards the sink and began vomiting.
The maids panicked and rushed to her side. They held her hair back and rubbed her back soothingly as she continued to vomit.
Confusion is evident on their faces, as they couldn't understand what happened. Aside from the apple juice, Yuri hasn't consumed anything else that could have caused such a reaction.
"Cosa sta succedendo qui?" (What's happening here?)
It was Giancarlo who was just standing at the entrance of the dining room, but when he saw Yuri vomiting, he quickly rushed over to her.
"Cosa ha mangiato?!" (What did she eat?!)
Seeing how furious Giancarlo was, the others quickly explained in a nervous tone that Yuri had only consumed apple juice before becoming sick.
Favio, who was just watching the scene, walked over to the dining table and checked the dishes. He sighed heavily upon seeing the platter of burger steak.
"Signorina doesn't like the smell of garlic," he said, then quickly removed the plate of burger steak, giving it to the maid, who returned it to the kitchen.
When Yuri was already done vomiting, Giancarlo offered her a glass of water to help her rinse her mouth and soothe her throat. She then curled her arms around his neck and leaned into his chest. Giancarlo wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly as she took deep breaths to calm herself.
"They did not do anything wrong. I am just reacting like this to garlic these days, and I do not know why."
The maids who heard that exchanged glances. They did not speak a word to each other, but by the looks on their faces, it seemed that they already had an idea of what could be the cause of Yuri's sudden aversion to garlic.
They have been serving her for quite some time already, but they had never seen her react this way to garlic before unless something changed in her body.
"Signor, I do not mean to pry, but in my opinion, it would be good to summon the doctor to check on Signorina. We hope it's not something to be concerned about, but it's better to be safe than sorry," a maid who gathered the courage to speak up suggested. The others nodded in agreement.
"I will call the doctor," Favio said, stepping away from the dining room to make the necessary arrangements.
Giancarlo returned his attention to Yuri, who was still hugging him. He carefully picked her up and carried her to the living room, where he sat with Yuri on his lap. He gently stroked her hair, trying to soothe her discomfort.
The maids followed suit, bringing a basin of warm water and a towel. Someone even brought a pitcher of apple juice and a glass just in case Yuri suddenly craved it.
"How long will it take for the doctor to –"
"Ssshh," Yuri interrupted, placing a finger on Giancarlo's lips. "Be quiet and just hold me, please."
Giancarlo nodded understandingly, tightening his embrace around her as the other maids decreased the temperature of the room and dimmed the lights to create a more calming atmosphere.
After what felt like an eternity, the doctor finally arrived.
"The signorina has been reacting to garlic these days. It's a strange phenomenon, but we've been seeing it more frequently," it was Favio who told the doctor about the situation as Giancarlo refused to speak because Yuri has fallen asleep.
The doctor furrowed his brow, considering the information. "Garlic sensitivity can develop suddenly, even in adults," he explained. "I'll run some tests to confirm and recommend a suitable treatment plan, but for now, there is also another thing that we should consider. Can we have the others step away, please?"
The other doesn't need to be told twice. The maids and even Favio quickly moved to the other side of the room, giving the doctor and Giancarlo some privacy.
"When was the last time you were physically intimate with the signorina, Signor Costa?"
Giancarlo hesitated for a moment, his face turning slightly red. "Last night," he finally admitted. "But I don't see how that could be relevant to her condition."
"Have you been doing it regularly or was it a one-time occurrence?" the doctor asked, his tone professional yet probing.
Giancarlo wanted to lash out at the doctor for prying into their personal lives, but a realization suddenly hit him. The doctor let out a relieved sigh, seeing that the mafia boss finally understood why he was asking about their bedroom activities.
"It might be an allergic reaction, but it could also be pregnancy, Signor Costa. But for us to be certain about that, we need to conduct some tests. If the signorina doesn't want to wake up for now, I could leave the necessary materials for her to take the tests at her convenience. Additionally, I can provide you with some informational resources about potential symptoms and precautions to take during pregnancy."
Giancarlo could barely hear what the doctor said, as his focus was entirely on the fact that Yuri could be pregnant. That life growing inside her fills him with a mix of excitement and anxiety.
Yuri snapped her eyes open and looked at him and the doctor confusedly.
"What's going on?" she asked. Giancarlo took a deep breath, trying to compose himself before responding.
"The doctor just mentioned that there's a possibility you could be pregnant," he said, his voice filled with anticipation. "He said that you should take a test to confirm it. Do you want to do it now?"
