"Signorina, it's too hot already. Let's go back home; you have been outside for too long, and it's not safe to stay out in this heat." Lorenzo reprimanded her as he watched her standing under the scorching sun, drinking from a water bottle.
"Come on, you worry too much about me. This is the first time that I will be going out in a long time. I just want to enjoy the warmth and fresh air while I can," Yuri responded, trying to reassure Lorenzo. "Besides, I have been drinking a lot of water, so you have nothing to worry about."
Lorenzo just shook his head in resignation as they continued walking around the park. The heat isn't really that intense, but of course, Lorenzo likes to worry every chance he gets, even though he could feel that someone had been following them for a while now.
These days, Yuri really prefers to go out not just to enjoy herself but also to use it as a time to think and reflect on her thoughts.
Her mind keeps wandering back to the day her mother disappeared. It turned out that she prepared a welcome party for her with the help of George and the others, but still, there was something odd about the whole situation, although she couldn't point her finger at exactly what it was.
Something changed about her mother ever since that day, and she couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something she was not telling her, and it gnawed at her every waking moment.
"Lorenzo, what do you think about my mom?" she asked. Lorenzo paused for a moment before responding.
"Well, she is nice and all. Anyone could see that she cares and loves you so much."
"Don't you think that there is something off about her these days?"
Lorenzo shrugged his shoulders at that. "I do not think that I am the right person to answer that, Signorina. I haven't known your mom for very long, so I can't say for sure."
Yuri just sighed at that and nodded. Perhaps it would have been better if Giancarlo had been there to answer her question, but of course, she could only wish for that.
When it was almost midday, Yuri decided that it was wise to follow Lorenzo's advice and return home as the sun was starting to set. The apartment is just ten minutes walk from where they are, so it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to get back.
"Hey, let me just check for a while if they have this flavor of ice cream that I've been craving," Yuri said, pointing towards an ice cream shop nearby. She quickly made her way inside, with Lorenzo tailing behind her.
They were the only customers in the shop, which made it easy for her to browse through the different flavors. After a few minutes, Yuri found the strawberry-chocolate flavor that she had tasted before when she went out with Aleksei. She excitedly ordered a scoop of it and eagerly waited in front of the counter.
The sound of a door opening caught their attention, and they turned to see Luca, who had entered with his men.
Yuri swallowed hard as the temperature in the shop suddenly dropped. One of Luca's men flipped the signage on the door to "closed" and locked it.
When she looked at the counter again, Yuri noticed that the ice cream she had ordered was melting rapidly, and the shop personnel who had just been serving her were now frozen in fear.
"Do you mind going to the back? I'll try my best not to ruin anything here," she told the shop personnel, who nodded and quickly scurried towards the back of the shop.
"I do not know which part of what we have talked about last time you did not understand, Mr. Moretti. Do you wish to die here?" Yuri asked, her voice dripping with a dangerous calmness. Lorenzo pulled a chair for her to sit on, and then she started to indulge herself with the ice cream.
