Giancarlo was about to open the door when Yuri stopped him. "Are you sure it's going to be a good idea?" Yuri asked as she glanced at the armed men still standing a few meters away from their car.

The men who were with them were in the other car that was behind them. When they perhaps got a whiff of what could be happening, she saw them stepping out of the car with weapons drawn.

If things escalated any further, it could potentially turn into a dangerous situation. Yuri wouldn't be worried like that if she weren't pregnant, but now she had to consider the safety of both herself and her unborn child.

"Stay here and do not get out of the car, no matter what happens," Giancarlo said before he stepped out of the car, where his men escorted him to the armed men.

Yuri's heart raced as she watched Giancarlo, knowing that his protective instincts were kicking in. She could only hope that nothing would go wrong and that Giancarlo would return safely.

She narrowed her eyes when another man stepped out of the SUV. It was one of Giancarlo's brothers, and if she remembers him correctly, his name is Stefano.

By the looks of it, so far, things are looking relatively calm and under control. There was no way for her to hear their conversation, but she could see Stefano smiling and even opening his arms as if he were going to hug Giancarlo, but the latter one aimed his gun at his brother instead.

That resulted in the others pointing their guns at each other.

"I thought mafias were not allowed to kill their own family members," Yuri said, feeling a mix of shock and confusion.

"It should be like that, but the boss and his brother have always had a complicated relationship," replied the driver, his voice filled with resignation.

"Family loyalty can be a double-edged sword among the Costas. And with the boss taking you in as a wife, Stefano is expected to contest his brother's decision. It seems that blood ties can sometimes be the strongest force tearing families apart."

Yuri just nodded silently at that as she continued to process what was happening in front of her. Why did it have to happen now when they already had a plan to go to Sicily? Was that decision going to put them in even more danger than they anticipated?

Uncertain of what to do next, Yuri decided that she must do something, so before she could stop herself, she had already pushed the door open before the driver could stop her.

Everyone's attention was on her as she walked towards them, stopping beside Giancarlo.

Stefano smiled and extended his hand toward her.

"It is nice to finally meet you, Yuriko Rivera. I have been hearing a lot of nice things about you."

Yuri accepted Stefano's hand and forced a smile. She could imagine that she might have pointed a gun at him too if she weren't pregnant.

"I was just telling Giancarlo what's taking so long to bring you to Sicily. Forgive me, but my patience is already wearing thin, so I decided to come here and see for myself what the delay is all about."

Giancarlo curled his arms around her waist as he threw dagger looks at his brother.

"The way you cut our car off on the road tells me that you do not mean well. My fiancee is pregnant, and if she ended up getting hurt by that stupid stunt of yours, you could say goodbye to that pathetic life of yours."

There was an edge to Giancarlo's voice, but his brother remained unfazed. He smirked and replied, "You always were the hot-headed one, Giancarlo. But don't worry, I have no intention of harming your precious fiancée or the baby, but mama wanted to get your attention."
