Jan 19: Write a story titled White horse
....

I already knew that I was going to screw up.

Some of our men weren't able to get inside the huge forcefield I created.
Half of them had already lost their lives as they struggled to hold off the enemies.

I grunted as I felt a sharp pain in my head.

I was using too much brain power and my energy was draining fast.

I slid back a little as I felt an explosion on the forcefield, but I got myself back and kept my feet firm on the ground.

I could hear the shuffle of feet behind me.

Those were the men that were safe...for now.

Soon, to our horror, all our men outside the forcefield had been killed, their bodies sprawled out on the ground in hundreds.

I clenched my teeth and my arms shook as more explosions and weapons hit the surface of the field.

Now all the enemies had surrounded us, every one of them doing whatever they could to try to get in.

Boom!

There was a massive explosion and suddenly, I didn't know what was happening.

I heard screams of terror and rage.
My sight was partially blinded and there was a high pitched ringing in my ear.

After a few seconds, my eyes cleared and as I looked around me, my heart dropped.

The explosion was so strong that I gave up and turned the forcefield off.

I saw myself on the ground.
I was drained and my head throbbed.
I turned to look at my arm and realized I had a huge wound on my bicep.

Even worse, the remaining men were getting killed by the enemies.

I watched in horror as my men were stabbed and hacked and shot.
Somehow, the men couldn't see me because I was on the ground.

They probably thought I was dead already.

Biff

A lifeless body fell on me heavily and I grunted because of the impact.

An enemy soldier that was unfortunately close to me heard the sound.

He looked down at me. I tried to be as still as possible but he already caught me.

He raised the knife in his hand to impale me without a second thought and I closed my eyes shut and braced myself for the impact.

I felt hot tears slide down my dirty face and the only thing that crossed my mind was how I would be remembered as the man who couldn't save his men.

Even as my eyes were closed, I could see the blinding white light that suddenly appeared. It was so intense I felt my skin burn.

I decided to open my eyes for a second, a trickle of hope rushing through me and when I did, I sighed in relief.

It was Ghost.

Whoosh

With a single breath of air, all the remaining enemy soldiers were wiped out with white fire and luckily, a few of my men remained.

Ghost, my white Pegasus, trotted over to me and scooped me up with his wings.
Then he set me on his back and he walked over to the other men.

In a minute we were sailing–or is it galloping–through the air.

I looked down at the ground and a tear escaped from my eyes as I scanned the bodies of our men.
We lost so much.

We arrived at our home soon and we got off Ghost.

He turned around and spread his wings, about to take off.

I called out to him and he stopped.
Then I walked in front of him and knelt down.

"Thank you."

I pet his head slowly and he shook his head slightly, his way of showing affection.

"Bye for now, and be safe."

In a few seconds, he was in the air.

I looked up at him as he flew until he finally disappeared into the clouds.
