March 26: Write a story set in a grocery store
….

The cereal section! The cereal section!

These little brats didn't let our parents and me rest throughout the week.

Especially Marcus. He seemed so keen on going to the store on Saturday for some reason but Mom didn't agree because she couldn't trust him and somehow, I have no idea why, we all had to go the store.

The best grocery store in town was a bit far from home so we had to drive there. Throughout the drive, Marcus kept checking for the time and it was really annoying.

Being the first child was a pain. All the responsibility was on my head and I had to deal with three annoying children.

Well, they were barely children anymore, two were teenagers and the last one was eleven but still.

Once the car stopped, the three of them leaped out and ran. I sighed and got off the car before walking down to the store.

“Louie what is it?!” Mum screamed as he dashed to the cereal section. Marcus and Dana were already sprinting there and out of curiosity we both followed them while dad stayed behind to look for something.

We got there and we were half surprised to see them taking out the boxes one by one and shaking them.

“Can someone please explain?” I said trying my best to sound calm.

Marcus took another box out and shook it. Then he set it back in place before turning over to me and pushing his glasses up in that weird, nerdy way.

“There's this toy that is hidden in one of the Fruity Loops boxes. JUST ONE.”

“Uh…”

“But it's not just any toy,” he continued motioning for Louie to bring the shopping cart closer so he could drop a box in. “this toy is…not normal.”

“What do you mean?” Mum asked, now as intruiged as I was.

“It's…evil! It's just–”

“I think it's this one!” Dana screamed and tore open a box.

“Dana!” Mum yelled as the contents spilled out to the floor.

A few shoppers gave us glances but went back to their shopping like this was a usual sight for them at the store.

“Nothing.” Dana sighed in disappointment and flung the box across the floor.

“Keep searching!” Marcus yelled and turned back to us sheepishly. “You're gonna have to um…pay for a lot. Guys, it's time for plan B! Get all the boxes so no one else can!”

We watched with gaping mouths as Dana and Louie threw all the fruity loops boxes into the cart.

“Okay,” Marcus huffed and placed his hands on his waist. “now we begin the search.”

The three of them began to rip open the boxes, emptying them on floor like maniacs.

“Okay that's enough! Stop–”

“Found it!” Louie cried and and raised his hand up. We stared in confusion at the small purple glass ball in his hand.

Marcus fell to his knees dramatically and raised his hands up to the ceiling. Then he stretched his hands outwards for Louie to drop the ball in.

He held it gingerly and we all stared at him.

“Now, to see if it really is true…”

He rolled it around his palms and I saw that there was some kind of glowing liquid inside the sphere.
