....The weather was nippy and I was in a sour mood.
I shut my eyes and wrapped my hands around myself as a huge gust of wind flew past, causing leaves to scatter round the park.I stood up slowly from the bench I sat on and strolled to the wishing well.
A bunch of kids stood around it, tossing coins in while laughing and chatting with one another.
I sighed and took a coin out of the pocket of my jacket, staring at it as I twirled it between my fingers.
I probably looked stupid as I shut my eyes and whispered, "I just wish people could see really see what I see up in here."
I flicked the coin and it spun in the air for a few seconds before it landed in the water with a tiny splash.
I smiled tightly and stared at the coin as it sunk. As I turned around to leave, I started to wonder if the glint I saw beneath the surface was just normal.
I walked home in a hurry after noticing that it was past six and I was supposed to be back at home before five.
My mother's stern face was the first thing I saw as I walked through the door.
"Where have you been?" she asked as she folded her arms.
"I was at the park. I'm sorry, I got carried away."
She eyed me once more before walking off.
"We were about to start game night, " she informed me with her back still turned to me.
My eyes widened and I cried inwardly. I hated game night.
People cheated, people fought and it was excruciatingly boring.
"What's tonight's game?" I asked as I took a bottle of soda out of the fridge.
"Charades."
Interesting. Maybe this night could be different.
"Why are you smirking like an idiot?" my little sister Emily said as she walked into the kitchen.
"I just saw your stupid face, that's why," I replied after downing half the bottle of soda.
She stuck her tongue out at me and walked off after grabbing the drinks and snacks she came to collect.
"We're about to start by the way, loser."
I scrunched my face up at her annoying, highpitched voice and trashed the now empty bottle in my hand.

"Movie!" mum yelled.
Dad nodded.
After dad made a series of movements that got me genuinely scared for him, Emily finally screamed, "titanic!"
"Correct!" dad beamed at her, walking back to his spot on the couch.
He was probably excited that he just burnt a few calories.
I furrowed my brows as I turned to look at my sister.
"You've watched that movie?""Yeah, why is that surprising?"
"You're seven years old!"
"And I'm still smarter than you are!"
I was about to give a sharp retort but mum stopped the argument.
"Jason, your turn."
"Alrighty," I mummured and got up.
When I got to the centre of the living room, I paused there for a while.
"If you're blank just say it, we won't be surprised."
I tried my best not to throw the glass bottle on the table at her.
Suddenly I got something.
I breathed out and joined my palms together and I opened them up.
"Book," they all chorused.
"Ugh, you better make it easy. We're not all nerds like you."
"Emily," dad warned.
"No, leave her alone dad. She's asking for a free eyebrow shave tonight."
She gasped and held her hands over her brows protectively.
I chuckled and then got serious. I stretched my arms out at the sides and wiggled them.
My face reddened as the entire family tried in futility to hold themselves from laughing.
"Seriously guys! You didn't see the performance dad gave?"
"Hey!" dad said, trying to catch his breath, "it was a stellar performance."
I rolled my eyes and tried to think of something else to do.
The book I had in mind was one of my favourites: The Wave by Todd Strasser.
I just wished I could show them the way it was exactly in my mind.
I wished they could see the way the waves rose and fell and splashed. The magnificent blue colour calling to me...
Boom!
Shards of glass flew everywhere as the windows exploded and to my horror, a huge blast of water flew in through the windows and infact anywhere it could possibly pass through.
Everyone screamed and tried to get to higher ground as the water flew in and flooded the house.
"What the...?" I whispered and the water came in stronger and stronger, wetting us through.
"What in the world in happening?!" dad yelled in astonishment as the water rose up to our ankles even as we were standing on the couches.
No, it couldn't be.
But I just thought of a wave.
I suddenly remembered earlier today at the well...
I shook my head, feeling the water rising up to my knees.
No way it could be real.
"Are we gonna die?" my sister sobbed.
My head began to whirl as I concentrated hard, feeling stupid at the same time because it couldn't be possible.
I thought of air currents and the rustling of leaves on the tress. I thought of the clouds gathering...and suddenly the pouring water stopped.
Everywhere was quiet for a moment.
"Jason are you okay?" mum asked as I stumbled on the couch.
My mind darkened and I suddenly realized what I'd done...
"Jason?"
The familiar sound of rain clattering on the roof was heard and everyone looked out the window.
Luckily, it wasn't raining inside and there was barely any water left in the house, though the floor was slightly damp.
I smiled to myself as my heart raced and I couldn't stop thinking about that glint I saw in the water.
"Isn't this strange?...Jason?"
My vision darkened and I felt myself fall.
