April 11: Write a story titled orange juice
....

I was dragged out of a lesson for the most absurd thing I'd ever heard in my life. Well, not literally dragged. I had a text from my brother telling me to go to some weird, unknown location as quickly as I could.

The message sounded urgent so I had to leave in the middle of class.

When I reached my destination, I realized I was actually nowhere. I was just standing on the street, looked around like I just landed on the Earth.

My phone vibrated in my pocket and I took it out to see another message from him.

Him: Have you reached?

Me: I would be able to answer your question if I knew where I was supposed to be reaching!!!

Him: Where are you?

Me: Where you asked me to go.

I searched for the street name and sent it to him.

Him: Good, you're at the right place. Now just search for the biggest manhole you can find around that area and go down.

Me: Say what?

Him: Please just do it. Your brother's life depends on it.

Me: What do you mean by that? Are you alright? And why are you talking about yourself in the third person?

He went offline. I sighed and proceeded to look for the manhole. Long story short, once I placed my leg on the first rung of the ladder, I felt myself falling.

And that's how I landed in a huge, slightly dark room that smelled like old books and rotting wood.

Luckily I hadn't broken anything.

I scrunched my face and gazed around wearily as I walked through the dingy room. Suddenly a hand grabbed mine and I screamed. I sprung into action immediately and punched blindly.

“Ow,” a male voice muttered. My arm became free and the room became brighter.

I froze as I took in everything before me. I saw two girls and a guy that looked around my age, an older man and when I turned my head to the right, I saw my twin brother lying on a bed, looking paler than I'd ever seen him. Oh and sicker than I'd ever seen him too. My stomach churned at the sight.

“Wha-” I took a deep breath and motioned for someone to explain.

“Abby, your brother is…dying. And we just need you to know.”

“What?!” I rushed over to him and placed my hand on his head. It was really warm. “What happened?”

They stole glances at each other.

“Like, what is this place, who are you people?”

“It's not really important. Just know we all posses magic abilities. We're witches and wizards and we fight…monsters! Dangerous ones. And as we were in the middle of fighting a really dangerous one, your brother got hit by this poison spell and now…” one of the girls said and shook her her head slightly. “Now he's dying. And we don't know what to do. We've tried every spell that we know.”

I took a moment to process everything. And once every sunk in, I couldn't accept it. I couldn't stand the thought of losing my brother.

“There has to be a way!” I blurted.

They all stared at me like I'd gone mad.

“There's no…safe way,” the older man said and I stared at him curiously.
