June 1: write a short story that follows a stray cat
....A feeling of calmness came over me as a slight drizzle fell over my clothes and dampened them slightly. I strolled through a quiet street one rainy evening on my way back from school, thinking about the test I wrote earlier in the morning. I needed to pass it desperately or I would get kicked off the football team.
The light rain calmed down my nerves thankfully and I was clear minded for a while until I saw it.
A small cat with pitch black fur scampered past as fast as lightning and disappeared into an alley. I paused in my tracks and tried to unstartle myself.
I wanted to just ignore the furry creature and just go on my way but curiosity got the best of me and I decided to follow it. Plus, the animal radiated this…ominous aura.
I followed the route the cat took. I was at the corner of the street, next to the alley the cat disappeared into. Suddenly I heard a strange strangled sound like the cat was choking. And then a fierce snarl.
I took a quick step back and peeped from the corner. The cat walked in a continuous circle, acting impatient like a human pacing back and forth. It kept snarling and shaking, I almost thought that it was gonna blow up.
The sound of footsteps brought me out of my gaze. I stiffened but took action immediately and brought my phone out of my pocket to use so the passerby won't think I was acting strange or suspicious.
I walked a bit farther away from the street corner, just to be safe. The young man was walking towards my direction. When he got to me and passed by, I sighed and started to walk back to watch my strange furry friend but something crazy happened.
As the man walked by the street corner, the cat jumped out of the alley and landed on him.
He yelled and dropped the bag he was holding so he could free his hands and pull the animal away from his face. I froze and watched in horror, unsure of what to do. Should I run? Should I help? Suddenly, the animal opened its mouth and I saw fangs.
Then it bit down on the young man's neck and he screamed before collapsing. The cat jumped off his body and scurried back to the alley way, moving round in a circle once more.
I was grateful that it hadn't seen me yet and took it as my cue to leave. I didn't know what to do about the body on the floor so I decided that the best option was to leave it there and mind my business.
I ran down the street, my heart pounding. What sort of cat was that?
A vampire cat?
I hadn't gotten far from the street corner, when a piercing scream cut through the air. I paused in my tracks and waited. That was it.
The devilish cat had probably gotten another victim.I had to tell someone about this.
The police station. Although there was fear in my heart, I had to. I couldn't just leave things like this but I didn't want to go anywhere near that creature...
Before I could change my mind, I began to run down the opposite direction but I made sure to keep to the other side of the street. I made a mental note to speed past the alley way so I wouldn't be seen by the cat. Can't believe I was scared of a cat….
Anyways, the scene I met when I got there made me stop running by force and stare. It was one of the scariest things I'd ever seen.
The two bitten victims lay on the floor, unmoving. Meanwhile, the cat was already on another victim. It annoyed me a lot that the street was so lonely and that each pedestrian passed by. It benefited the creature. Hmm, maybe it chose that spot for a reason.
Anyway, I stood in the shadows watching as the cat bit the neck of this young man and once the man collapsed and the cat got off his body, the cat started to morph.
He grew and grew until he was the size and height of an average human. Somehow, it had on human clothes and even looked exactly like a real human. It dusted it's clothes and stepped out into the street openly while I drew back deeper into the shadows.
It looked left and right, saw that the coast was clear and then walked off while I stood there wondering what the hell in the witchcraft world I had just witnessed.

I don't really like it but I can manage
