Aug 10: write a story titled fire under the bridge
....Zoey and Betty were the best of friends. Everyone always saw them together. They were the sweetest. They shared matching bracelets, wore almost matching fits, had a joint insta account, and even had matching tattoos.
They had been best friends ever since elementary school and now they were about to graduate high school. Several people were jealous of them, of course. And some said that they'll eventually break up. They'd been set up many times and there was even a time when they had this huge argument over a boy.
They hadn't talked for two weeks and ignored each other when they crossed paths. It felt like they had finally broke up. Until a few days later they'd apparently made up because they were spotted laughing and chatting with each other in the hallways.
The argument they had about the guy was pretty serious. They had a small fight in the hallways that everyone saw and called each other some names that were pretty bad. They even spoke bad about the other to their other friends.
It was a huge surprise to everyone who witnessed the fight or at least heard rumours about the fight. They were both a bit popular in school and so the news caused a stir. How and when they made up was a mystery but they behaved like they never ever had the fight afterwards.
It felt like the whole situation was water under the bridge. But I knew it wasn't.
I was a friend of both of them. I once asked about the whole thing and the replies I got were very surprising.
Turns out that they both still like this guy that they had the fight over in the first place. The guy basically stayed low key after the whole thing to avoid people talking to him to ask him about it.
Secretly, he was dating them both. He was such a dickhead. What he was doing was super risky and he knew it. He should've stayed away from both of them.
Anyways, the other day, I asked Zoey what she thought about the whole thing.
“Betty is such a drama queen,” she began and my eyes widened. “she already has like almost the entire population of guys in the entire school chasing after her and the one guy that seemed interested in me, she had to go after him. That was so selfish of her.”
“So you're still mad at her huh?” I asked.
“Well, I don't think what she did is a very reasonable thing up till now but I'm not really mad at her. Well…as far as Kevin is still with me.”
“Kevin's with you now?”
“Yup, and she has no idea but everything is still okay.”
“Wait, how did you guys even make up?”
“She promised to stay away from him.”
I nodded. “So the argument is over then.”
“Yes, it is over. But that doesn't mean that Betty doesn't behave in some really stupid ways. She's so self centered and very bossy. She's basically like a brainless diva. I wonder how I put up with her all these years.”
“Wow…” I said, shaking my head.

“She's so annoying,” Betty began as I asked her about her best friend. “she knew that I'd had a crush on Kevin for two years and she just went to him the first chance she got.”
“And are you over him now? And over it?”
“Yeah,” she said with a shrug. “He's a wierdo and shes lucky to find someone who even likes her.”
I gasped and she rolled he eyes at me.
“What? It's true.”
“So you don't really like her?”
“She’s changed. She's become to…goody two shoes. Always telling me, this is right and this is wrong. She wasn't like that before. But anyways, I'm with Kevin anyway so…”
“What?” I recoiled. “I thought you said he was a wierdo?”
“Yeah, he was. Until he got to his senses and came crawling back to me.”
I huffed.

I couldn't stand it. These two girls thought that the other one was a good, loyal beast friend and thought that the wo6le thing was water under the bridge. They didn't know it was a blazing fire under that freaking bridge. And they just had to know the truth about eachother. And that jerkface…Kevin that thought he could date two best friends and cause them to fight and think he would get away with it? I couldn't just stand there and know about all this and watch it happen. I would teach him a lesson.Somehow, I made Zoey and Betty ask Kevin out to a date at the same place. A fast food restaurant close by. They scheduled the dates at different times. Times that were enough for one to end and leave before the other came in.
Kevin thought he could really get away with this, but I was going to show him something.
At four pm, Betty and Kevin would be having their date and by seven, Zoey and Kevin will be having theirs. But I made Zoey go to the restaurant to grab something for me at the time that Betty and Kevin will be having their date.
And the plan worked out perfectly.
I was sitting at a table, at a corner very inconspicuous, watching Betty and jerkface as they flirted and chatted with eachother, trying my best not to puke.
Suddenly, Zoey walked in. It took her a while to spot Betty and Kevin's table but when she did, the look on her face was priceless.
“Betty…? Kevin…? What the…”
“Zoey…” Kevin started. He looked very uncomfortable and couldn't look both of them in that eyes. “I can explain.”
“Explain? What's going on?” Betty asked and I smiled to myself and prepared for the drama to unfold.
