Chaeyoung's Choice

"Hon. How was Noona? Is she alright?" Jungkook asked, genuinely worried.

"Yup. Nothing to worry about, and thank you for taking care of the mess."

"Anything for you, my love."

Chaeyoung was silent for a moment before she finally decided to nip everything in the bud. She had to talk to him sooner or later anyway, so why not do it now, right?

"First of all, I'm sorry. I'm very sorry for making you face such humiliation yesterday. Sorry for leaving without even giving you any sort of explanation. I don't know if I even deserve your forgiveness, but I'm very very sorry." Chaeyoung can't help but cry again, recalling what she did to her lover.

"Shh... Please, don't cry, sweetheart. Don't worry about it. To be honest, I'm just happy to see you fine today." He said hugging her close. His understanding added more burden to Chaeyoung. How can she hurt someone like him? She's evil.

"I don't understand. How can you be so calm talking to the woman who humiliated you by running away from your wedding?"

"Because I know you won't do something to intentionally hurt me. I love you, Chaeyoung, so I'm trying to understand you. I'm trying to think of how you might have a reason for doing what you did. I know you, and I know you will never do anything to hurt me just for nothing."

His reply made Chaeyoung sob harder saying a series of sorry's while the boy gently patted her head.

"It's okay, Honey. Please know that in every decision you make, I'm always got your back. You just have to tell me. Also, fortunately, we had a supposed private wedding, so no harm done." He tried to joke before continuing. "Why did you suddenly leave anyway? Did I do something wrong? Did I rush you into things? Don't you want to get married yet? Because if that's the reason, please know that I'm in no rush. I'm willing to wait. We can have a long engagement, if that's what you want."

"..."

"I'm sorry, I can't tell you the real reason, and I'm sorry for hurting you. But right now, I have certain private matters that I have to prioritize in my life, so I don't think I'm already ready to be your wife." Chaeyoung said, taking off her engagement ring and returning it to the dumbfounded guy.

"I'm really sorry, Jungkook. There's just a lot going on right now, and I don't want you to be stuck in this relationship without certainty, so I think we need a break. I'm giving you back your freedom. You don't have to wait for me anymore. Please, try to find your happiness, even if it's not with me."

"What? No. Please, Hon. Don't do this to me. Whatever it is. I'll... I'll understand. Please, just not this. I can't let you do this. I love you. And I know you love me too. Please, don't do this to us." He hald both of his girlfriend's hands, before lifting one hand to gently caress her face and putting his forehead against hers.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I can't do this right now."

They were both full on sobbing at that point.

Jungkook was the first one to recover. He hated seeing his girl cry, and he knows that being there that moment is bringing her pain, so he came up with a painful decision.

"Okay. Let's do this instead. I am not breaking up with you, Son Chaeyoung. You are my love. You are my life. And I know that you know that. But, I can't see you having a hard time and hurting, so let's have a cool off instead. Again, we are not breaking up, but I'm giving you the time that you need to settle your affairs. I'll be leaving in a week with the boys for a world tour. It will take more or less, 6-7 months, but when I come back, I want you to give me your final decision of whether you are still going to marry me or really push through with the break up." He put the ring back to Chaeyoung's hand, securing it on her palm before standing taking her with him.

"Please, no matter what decision you'll make that time, remember that I love you very much. I love you with all that I have, Son Chaeyoung. I promise that when I come back, you will still be my forever, so I hope I am still yours too."

Chaeyoung can only look at him, tears still streaming down her face. She was actually speechless. She knows how painful the guy went through because of her, and she can't believe that he can still be so selfless with his decision regarding their relationship. She can't help to admire him and think of how right she is for loving the guy in front of her.

Jungkook then proceeded to walk to the door to leave, only to come back and seal their lips with a quick and heartfelt kiss before finally walking away.

As he left and the door closes, Chaeyoung can only sob more loudly, sliding on the door to sit on the floor helplessly.

Behind her own door, Mina was also crying her heart out, knowing that she caused the pain felt by the girl she loves.
