[DOTS Y/n x Shi Jin] Always Beside You

Chapter 38

Y/n's pov

You lead two detectives to your brother's office at the hospital, the rest already at the Haesung headquarters searching the office. Captain Yoo glances at you, him having insisted that he comes along saying that this was also his case. You had reluctantly agreed, with his promise that he wouldn't be moving too much. 

'Search however much you like.' You say, opening the door to the director's room without even knocking, knowing that it is empty as Han Seok Won is still being kept in the lockup cell at the police station. Detective O walks past you into the room with multiple boxes, Detective Kang following him in. 

Detective O starts taking off all the documents off the shelves, and putting them into the boxes to be reviewed at the police station. You and Captain Yoo watch Detective Kang search Han Seok Won's desk, both of you standing awkwardly by the side. 

'You are welcome to get back to your work. We'll finish off here and let you know when we find something.' Detective O says, Captain Yoo glancing at you nervously. 

'Wait.' You look up, Detective Kang holding Han Seok Won's black leather notebook in his hands. He flips the pages, pointing at the words as he checks the writing. 

'Did you find something?' Detective O asks as he turns to the older detective and you lead Captain Yoo toward them studying something carefully. 

'Those red stars on these dates. February the first and second.' Detective Kang says, pointing at the star symbol over certain dates. 

'The first date and the second date are both when the summit took place.' Detective O replies, Detective Kang looking up at him confusedly. 'Look. There, he also wrote your name, Yoo Shi Jin-ssi.' He says, flipping the page away from the monthly spreads to the weekly plan section.

You feel your throat tighten seeing Captain Yoo's name written over in red on the date with an "x" sign next to the writing. 

You wonder if he chose to write in red ink for a reason. 

Looking down, you see Captain Yoo's hand reach for yours, stopping it from trembling. 

'There. He has the Lieutenant's phone number.' Detective Kang says again, flipping to the contacts list, empty except for Lieutenant Park's number. 'But that doesn't prove that they had an illegal relationship like bribery.' He states, Detective O looking troubled next to him. 

'Well, that's why we need to check through everything else.' Detective O says, only to be interrupted by Detective Kang's phone ringing in his jacket. 

'Yes?' He says into the phone, his expression gradually brightening hearing the person on the other line speak. 

'At least that's enough to prove his motive. If we use the medical records that his wounds were more than enough to kill.' He replies into the phone, Captain Yoo next to you looking back at you with a confused expression. 

'They found it. A pinboard full of pictures of you with threads connecting it. With annotations on who to take out first.' Detective Kang says to you brightly, although you feel the chills down your back hearing that Han Seok Won was stalking you and everyone around you, connecting the dots and planning to get rid of them one by one. 

'We'll take care of it from here and call you when we have something else.' Detective O says, both of you lowering your head at them as the two detectives do the same before leaving the room.
