[DOTS Y/n x Shi Jin] Always Beside You

Special episode 3

Shi Jin's pov

It was concluded that the helicopter from the mountain rangers would not be coming anytime soon, which led to people huddling together in the shelter for the snowstorm to cease the next morning. Hopefully, at least. 

That is, well, if we make the night alive, surviving the cold and the snowstorm outside. 

'Well. I know we're used to this.' I say, trying to lighten the mood as I pull Dr. Han towards me and putting my windbreaker over the both of us. I feel her arms around my torso as I put mine over her back, trying to get rid of any air between us for better heating in the cold. 

'I swear, I'm going to die from the cold.' She says, her teeth almost chattering even as I place my head on top of hers. 

'No dying. Like we always managed.' I reply, rubbing my palm over the back of her head picking the snow from the strands even when I can't really see from the dark, the only light source being Dr. Lee's flashlight that the guide hung on top of the tallest rock inside the cave. He indeed prepared everything that anyone could think of. If I was grateful for his preparation earlier, now all his behaviours were deciding against the sentiment as I looked up at him taking a spot next to Dr. Han across from me. I feel her steady breath as she falls asleep, tired from the entire day's event. 

'What? I'm cold.' He says as he wraps Dr. Han's back, ignoring my arms around her. 'She looks cold too. She's still shivering. Or do you want me to stick to you like a barnacle?' He adds, pointing at Dr. Han and me. I try not to retort something childish back, given the circumstances. 

Y/n's pov

You open your eyes, your cheeks feeling frozen from the cold wind and the night. Although you were glad that you didn't die from the cold overnight, you felt like you would die from the pile of arms on top of you. You take one of them, which you realise belongs to Axel seeing from the windbreaker, throwing it to the side. He groans as you toss his arms back to his side, sitting up to look down at the two of them. Axel rolls to his side, Captain Yoo's eyelids also fluttering open as you shake him awake. 

'I am alive too, by the way.' Axel says groggily from the side, lifting himself up to sit next to the two of you.

'Did anyone die overnight?' You ask, looking around at the others waking each other up, relieved when they open their eyes. You hear children start to cry with their parents cooing at them, wiping their faces with warmer hands, other people helping the elders to sit up.  

'No, but some elderly people are seen to be critical. But the rangers and the paramedics are here.' The guide shouts from the other side, before turning to one grandma asking something. 

'Here!' You turn to the rest of the people shouting at the helicopter above, the rangers in bright colours hiking up the mountain towards the shelter. One of them point their mountain stick toward the group, the helicopter starting to land close by with the wind blowing all around. The paramedics open the door, running out toward you and the others, the injured people starting to yell for help. 

'This proves that I can't take one step out of my bed. It's dangerous.' Axel says dramatically, even as the both of you give him a side eye before the rangers ask the three of you to get in the car.
