Once the group was comfortably gathered in the living room with their breakfasts, Sirius looked at Regulus and James expectantly.

"Stop that," Regulus said once he finished the bite of food he had.

"Stop what?" Sirius deflected.

"Stop staring at me like that. Like you're expecting something. There's not much to tell." He frowned at his mediocre sandwich.

James leaned against his fiance, and took one of his hands, "It's okay. you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. Neither of us do,"

Regulus shook his head, "No I - they deserve to know James." He took a deep breath, "I'll start." He said

"You sure, love?" James asked, and Regulus nodded.

"So James was... On Halloween, he was playing with Harry when we heard noises downstairs. James went to investigate. He forgot his wand and-" Regulus's voice cracked when tears threatened to pour down his face, but he gave James a look saying he would continue. "I heard him say Peter's name before Voldemort used the killing curse on him."

Sirius was fuming, with Remus attempting to keep him calm, "I swear if I ever see that bastard again, he's fucking dead." Sirius clenched his fists.

Voldemort came upstairs, and I dueled him, but lost. Even with all his Horcruxes destroyed, I couldn't beat him alone. I thought that was the end, but it wasn't, and I woke up in... a white room of sorts. Alphard was there." Regulus continued slowly, "Uncle Alphard showed me an alternate timeline of events. If James had never spoken to me in Hogwarts, and if I never befriended Remus... Things were so different. I became a death eater, and tried to destroy his horcruxes, but it was... Different. I only knew of the locket, because of Kreacher, and I died trying to destroy it. I got the locket and kreacher took it, while I... Drowned." Thinking of that moment made Regulus's breath hitch. Even in this universe, he nearly died. Without Remus, Regulus would be dead. His las thought would have been of his brother. Of Regulus' betrayal.

The room was silent as Regulus composed himself. James didn't try to interrupt him.

"Anyway. Similar things happen like our universe, but on a slightly different timeline. James starts dating Lily, Sirius, you and Remus never officially get together, and after you graduate Hogwarts, James and Lily have Harry. Effie and Monty die of dragonpox, but Voldemort does the same thing, just different. On Halloween of the next year, 1981 instead of 1980. James dies the same way, and then voldemort kills kily, but Harry manages to survive, killing voldemort. Sirius does the same thing, tries to get revenge on Peter, but James and Lily were actually dead, nobody testified in his favor. He spends the next eleven years in Azkaban plotting his revenge on Peter. The same as this timeline, but in that timeline, Voldemort was not gone for good."

"What do you mean?" Remus asked. "And what about me?"

"Well, Harry grows up being raised by his aunt and uncle, evil muggles who had a grudge against magic, but when he was old enough, Hagrid introduced him to the wizarding world and he went to Hogwarts. In his second year, Remus, you become his defense against the dark arts professor."

Remus nods, "Well that does sound interesting,"

Regulus laughs shalowly, "That same year, Sirius escapes from Azkaban, and finds Harry. Long story short, he runs into you and you guys argue, but Sirius... The reason you went to Hogwarts wasn't for harry, it was for Peter. He was disguised as a rat, and was owned by Harry's best friend."

"Oh that bastard." Sirius muttered, "Of course he would get to be with Harry of all people."

"What else happens? Do me and Sirius reconnect?" Remus asks
