Pairing: Passive Nightmare Sans x Female Reader
Prompt: When the guys come back from a mission with a new Nightmare, he's forced to act like the Boss the minions know so they don't kill him, and (Y/n) has to scramble to help keep him alive while the minions start to catch wise that this might not be their Boss.
Type: smut
Length: 7.2k words
Background: You're the Bad Sanses' nurse and you've been with them long enough to build rapport with all of them - but despite your many years of service, you never knew that Nightmare's corruption was incomplete and that Passive part he tried to destroy was still alive inside of him. It's your job to look after them - all of them - and with an innocent life hanging in the balance, your job just got a whole lot harder.
Notes: I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IT ABUNDANTLY CLEAR THAT PASSIVE IS THE SAME AGE AS NIGHTMARE (i.e. 500-some years old). He is not a child in this - mentally, physically, or otherwise. I don't need to explain why that's disgusting so he's aged up and he'll act as such. | This Y/n could be the same Y/n as Nightmare's (titled 'desk.'), Dust's ('wall.'), Killer's ('bed.'), Horror's ('counter.'), Error's ('bean bag.'), and Cross' ('mat.') - ergo a continuation of Nurse Y/n's adventures. (Reading Nightmare's/Dust's/Killer's/Horror's/Error's/Cross' isn't necessary to understand this one, dw, but if you do, I recommend reading in order!). Nightmare's smut-shot will be referenced a number of times tho so head's up if you're going in blind.

(Y/n) was prepping her nurse's office for the guys' return while Cross helped her when she heard shouting out in the hall. She turned in time to see the door burst open as all three of the minions rushed in with a skeleton she'd never seen in Horror's arms. Her eyes widened in alarm as Horror draped the skeleton on her operation table and stepped back, hands returning to his pockets with an unease grin on his crooked teeth. Cross blinked in surprise and Dust crossed his arms as Killer sidled up to (Y/n). "Something's wrong with the Boss, can you fix him?"

"Boss?" she sputtered, actually taking a step back as she looked between Killer's easy grin and the unknown skeleton. She'd never met him before, and though he was the same stature and build as Nightmare, his outfit was completely different – violet clothes that made him look like royalty, bleach white bones, two sockets that were closed, and a crown of gold around his head with a crescent moon engraved on the front.

"That's Nightmare," Dust confirmed, his tone biting as he glared at Killer like he blamed the other for what happened. (Y/n) trusted Dust's word more than Killer's, as he was less likely to try to prank her with some stupid joke while someone was hurt, and she drew closer to the purple skeleton to look him over quickly. He didn't appear injured, and she opened his socket to see a violet eyelight. That wasn't Nightmare's signature turquoise.

"What happened out there?" She surveyed the room for an answer.

"Ran into the Stars," Horror grumbled, resting his ax on his shoulder. "Dream shot Nightmare one too many times, I guess, and the Boss turned into this after we got him out of there." He gestured to the skeleton on her table, and she was left more confused than when she first asked. Dream was the only one able to wound Nightmare since the only thing to combat negativity was positivity, so it stood to reason that this time Nightmare took one too many arrows charged with positivity and collapsed. What the nurse didn't understand was how she went from the goopy, tentacle Boss she recognized to this comparably sweet 'Boss' she had right now.

"'Turned into this', what do you mean by that?" (Y/n) looked at Dust and Killer as if searching for a more specific answer when Horror only shrugged – he hadn't been looking when it happened.

Killer waved his knife around in the air animatedly. "He kinda turned into a big goopy pile of, well, goop. You know, when he's struggling to maintain his shape because he's really hurt?" It had been a very long time since Nightmare was that injured, and she frowned deeply as she glanced down at the resting 'Boss'. Since Nightmare was essentially made of goop and shadow, he could change and mold his form at will, but when he was hurt, he struggled to persist in his chosen form: the skeleton she and the others recognized him as.
