Pairing: Royal Guard! Horrortale Sans x Princess! Female Reader
Prompt: Dust and Killer disobeyed Nightmare's very specific instructions, so now the King has to step in and make the two princesses Horror and Cross' problem. Horror gets paired with the middle child, and she's left wondering why she couldn't have Cross as she goes through the whole creepy bodyguard situation again.
Type: long story with smut at the end
Length: 10.1k words
Background: Set in a more modern kingdom - same as the Nightmare one (princess' suitor.), and Dust's and Killer's under the same name (princess' guard.) - you're the princess of a human kingdom and he's the guard of a monster kingdom. Takes place after the previous ones.
Notes: I think it would be useful to have read Dust's "princess' bodyguard." smut-shot before this one but it's not mandatory. Reading any of the previous ones (like Nightmare's or Killer's) would help give you an idea of the lore so you're not going in blind. | You take the place of each of the sisters for these one-shots, so note that the sisters' names are simply placeholders (since naming all of you Y/n makes no sense lmao).

Within an hour of King Nightmare and Queen Adalyn's return, Nightmare called a meeting with me, my youngest sister Carina, and our two loyal bodyguards Dust and Killer. The King first pulled his guards aside to talk to them in private, and while Carina had beckoned for me to follow her back into Nightmare's study to spy on their private conversation, I'd vehemently shaken my head and stayed right where I was. She tip-toed off without me, and as much as my curiosity burned at what the King was saying, my self-preservation was just as strong – whatever it was wasn't worth getting reamed by the King.

So when Carina bolted back to my side in the foyer and the skeletons finally returned a minute later – Killer visibly distressed and Dust's eyelights crackling like he was on the verge of snapping – nervous concern swept over my body. Carina was an expert at pretending she wasn't listening in – the youngest child always had a gift for getting away with everything – but the second she laid eyes on Killer, that facade cracked. He pulled the knife he liked playing with from his belt and was playing with it antsily, like he needed all that pent-up frustration out now. I tried to meet eyes with Dust but he ignored me, and it felt like we were back to square one, back before we actually managed to have a conversation with each other, back before we...

My face burned as Nightmare cleared his throat, demanding our attention as he took the floor with his two bodyguards – Cross and Horror – beside him. Horror's smile was eerily wide, and while I couldn't see Cross' expression behind his helmet, his eyelights vigilantly flickered around the room like he was always on the lookout for trouble. Nightmare's expression was contorted with displeasure, and I squirmed under his turquoise eyelight like I was in the principal's office – though what my crime was, I wasn't sure yet.

"I entrusted Killer to obey my explicit instruction to behave while I was away, and not only did he disobey me, but Dust did as well. They were both aware of the terms they signed up for when taking on the role of the princesses' bodyguards, and the second I leave, they jumped on the opportunity, assuming I would not find out when I own them." The tentacles on his back cracked in the air like whips, his anger creating an almost hostile atmosphere – like we were in the middle of a lightning storm. I stepped back as fear squeezed my heart, confused just what Dust did that was so wrong, and Dust placed a hand on my waist as I felt his strong chest against my back. That caught Nightmare's attention and he sneered, his eyelight flashing with power like he was on the verge of acting on all that negativity in the room and unleashing it outwards, catching everybody in its path. Killer's whole body was rigid, and he pushed Carina back to protect her as she peeked around him at Nightmare with narrowed eyes. Her spine was strong, but I was on the verge of turning and running. I'd never seen the King so angry.
