"James! Hurry up!"

Leaves rustled as a group of creatures ran behind their group. The cold, windy winter night where they should be sleeping soundly turned into a game of survival.

"I'm coming!" The young, little voice of the seven-year-old James replies as he catches his breath.

"We need to hurry. I won't let those monsters take my brothers and sisters!" Paulo-ten years old-slows down, reaching for Sofia's hand, his sister.

"Paulo, lead the front, I'll stay here behind James." The eldest in the group, Tiago-only a year older than Paul-runs behind James, occasionally checking his back for their captors.

"I left Herbs on the river." Isabella, says, suppressing a cry.

"We won't be able to escape!"

"Shut up, Al!" All of them exclaimed.

But before they could see, the path sank and was gone. All of them fell at the edge of the hill, screaming in sync as they descended.

"Where did they go?" A man with a raspy voice spoke on the edge of the steep hill.

"I don't know, maybe they ran around." Another voice, a woman said.

"Those sneaky monsters! Scatter! Look for them and never stop!" A third voice erupts with his high-pitched words.

"Bastards, don't kill them, I need them alive!" An authoritative voice roared after their pursuers.

The people began to scatter, and their voices began to slowly disappear.

"C - Close," Al says, muffling his mouth with his hands.

James and his friends found themselves hiding underneath the vines, nervous yet eager to live.

"We're lucky, Sofia found this covering," Tiago said, breathing heavily.

"Maybe we should go now?" Isabella suggested, rubbing his hands.

"Those people, who are they? Why do they want to take us?!" Alejandro nervously asked.

"No, they want to kill us, and we won't let that happen!" Paulo furiously said.

"I heard your suggestion, Isa. Maybe we should- wait, wait! Where's James?" Sofia asks on a rising tone.

The five of them jumped out of their hiding place and began looking for James. However, while they were worriedly looking for him, James was not lost or separated-he chose to go back.

"Run, James, run. You have to go back. Mom's looking for you. You must-"

BANG!!!

James smashed on the ground, his left torso, bleeding. He was shot.

"Arggghhhh, it hurts!" He cried in pain.

"You can run, but you can't hide from me, boy! You can't escape from us, you monsters!" A man spoke from behind him. "Everyone, I found-"

The man was hit in the head by a hard object, putting him to sleep.

"I told you to stay close!" Tiago madly spoke, holding a stubby stick.
