they say
this is a safe space
and i begin to wonder
if anywhere will ever really feel safe
if i will be forever checking closet doors
and looking for emergency exits
if i will always feel eyes on my back
like they're all on the brink
of pointing and laughing
if i will always be bracing myself
like i'm on a roller coaster
at the top of the loop
forever waiting for the drop
they say
this is a safe space
and i wonder if i will always think
is it really?
