"Gross," I whispered under my breath, watching as the twins merged into one giant wolf in the air, their bones crackling like glowsticks.

I had been told to be inconspicuous by Blake, but as soon as we'd arrived, I'd been whisked away from my pack and told that I would not be fighting. I would be enhancing and enhancing beside Deucalion so that he could see for himself what my little party trick could actually do.

Derek attacked first, already having shifted into his wolf form. He was an odd man, or so the file I'd read on him had shown. He was a survivor of a horrific fire, an alpha through a ridiculous murder not murder, and generally seemed to be the root cause of most problems in Beacon Hills. He attacked Kali.

Kali was swift and strong, bloodthirsty without hesitation, and an incredibly skilled fighter. She held her own easily against the alpha, and her heartbeat remained levelled and unphased.

Nevertheless, Mason rushed to her aid anyway, grabbing Derek by the back of his neck and tossing him aside before he pounced on him.

Ennis, tall and broad with little to no intelligence to guide him forward, was attacked by a high school student and a puppy. Vernon Boyd and Cora Hale, another two files on Deucalion's table.

They could barely hold their own against him combined, and I almost winced when Blake rushed forward to help Ennis fend them off. It was almost too unfair.

Then, the scent hit me, faint and sweet, honey glazed cereal and sea salt. My eyes snapped to the figure rushing at the twins, slashing at them with his claws in a desperate attempt to fight against them. I almost winced when they threw him to the floor, and his bones rattled in my ears.

Scott rushed to help Isaac, exasperation briefly blooming inside him before it was replaced by anger. He lunged at the twins but was tossed into the wall hard enough to dent it.

Aaron hesitated from across the room before he stuck his hands into his pockets and casually crossed to the other side towards them. He was meant to help the twins, but it was beyond obvious that that would be unnecessary.

"Tell me," Deucalion's voice sent a bolt of electricity down my spine, and it snapped straight, "what can you do?"

Mason had told me the answer I was supposed to give, and so I repeated it, "I can enhance power." I trained my eyes to remain off Deucalion, watching any part of the fight instead of confronting his unnerving stare.

Derek was starting to hold his own against Kali even with Mason clawing at his back. He'd managed to elbow her in the face, and her blood sprayed the air for a second before she healed.

I hissed lowly as Derek switched his focus from Kali to Mason, swinging his fist into my alpha's jaw and dislocating it.

Mason slapped his hand across his face, forcing his jaw back into place before raising his hands to aim for Derek's neck.

"I know that you can enhance power," Deucalion mused lowly, "Mason fed me the same line—"

I winced as Derek's sister, Cora, let out an agonised shriek as Ennis twisted her arm and snapped it out of its socket. I was not well versed in the violence of wolves, I'd only ever had to deal with hunters, and I knew well enough how dangerous they could be. Still, bullets and blades were one thing, claws and super strength were another.

Deucalion tutted, "You'll have to excuse their manners. They aren't exactly what you can call dignified. As I was saying,"

I swallowed as Isaac's scream of pain echoed across the walls, "As you were saying..."
