"I am so glad we did that," I huffed, sarcasm dripping from my every word as I tousled water droplets out of my hair, "so glad."

Isaac snorted, shaking his head sharply to throw water out of his own face. "It's for a good cause."

"Vandalism." I rolled my eyes, moving back to lean on the wall of the tunnel that led up to the school.

"That's got to be the least illegal thing we've been a part of," he grinned, dragging his feet to stand in front of me. He reached out to poke my shoulder. "You're not excited at all? Senior Scribe is kind of a big deal."

I sighed softly, my chest twisting with a variety of conflicting emotions as I reached out to pull him closer by his jacket. "I am excited. I want to be a senior, and I want to be here, but..." I tilted my head sightly, "I spent the last four months of junior year couped up in my room, jumping out of my skin every time I saw a shadow."

Isaac sighed softly, reaching up to cup my cheek before he bent his head on top of mine, his other arm wrapping around my waist. "One step at a time, remember? I'm going to be with you every step of the way. You can take things as quickly or as slowly as you want."

I slipped my arms around his waist, "I dropped art. I talked to Ms. Martin on the phone... she pulled some strings, so I'm doing AP French instead of normal French."

He listened silently, his heartbeat remaining steady in my ears as he ran his hand over my hair.

I drew back slightly to look up at him, "I have no idea what I'm doing, you know that, right?"

Isaac offered me a small smile, bending his head further to press his forehead to mine, "I think you'll figure it out. You've got time."

I stared through the hues of his eyes, the blue darkened by the shadows around us, "Everyone's talking about college, the natural next step... I don't know if I want that."

He hummed softly, dropping his other arm around to my waist before he wrapped himself around me, rocking us slightly from side to side. "College isn't the be-all and end all. There are hundreds of other things you could do."

I laughed quietly, "And what about you, pretty boy?"

"Careful, you might make my heart flutter with flirting like that, and after that, I'll be your problem." Isaac joked, pulling back before looping his arm around my shoulders.

I dug my arm under his jacket, snaking it around his waist and matching his grin, "No can do, I've got a boyfriend. You'll have to find someone else to cling to."

"Too late," Isaac ducked around me, his lips catching mine quickly before he darted ahead, turning on his heels to jog backwards out of the tunnel and back under the rain.

I shook my head at him, a soft giddiness bubbling through my stomach, "I'm not running through that storm again."

Isaac laughed over the thunder, looking up at the sky for a moment, droplets sliding down his neck. Then, he met my eyes again again, wiggling his eyebrows playfully before he waved his hand at me, "Come on, we can't hide out here all night. It's not that bad."

"I'll remind you of that sentiment when we're inside and your clothes start getting all sticky and gross as they start to dry," I grumbled, reluctantly running out of the tunnel towards him.

He grabbed my hand, pulling me after him as a bolt of lightning coursed through the night's sky, the sweet smell of oranges wafting off him.

I admired the ease in his shoulders, the gleeful smile that reached his eyes, making the blues of them shine brighter. I'd noticed he was happier these days, glad to be surrounding himself with the things he loved and planning for his future that he, now, actually believed he could have.
