KOREY

"You know, for teenagers who love to talk about how smart we are, we really make irresponsible decisions," I quipped over the phone.

"Korey, you're meant to be acting natural and being an irresponsible teenager," Chris reminded me over the line. "You worked all night, we found Katashi and now-"

"Now, I'm making sure no one dies because of shadow monsters, yeah, I got it," I huffed, storming up the steps of Derek's apartment block.

"Be careful, Korey, you can't fight these guys," Chris repeated for the tenth time that day, "you can only stall them-"

"Long enough to run," I sighed, "again, I know." I stopped outside Derek's loft door, the metal vibrating softly to the beat of the music playing inside. "I'll be fine... we all will."

"Alright, have fun-"

"Wait, Chris?" I stopped him from hanging up.

"Yeah, what's wrong?"

"Can you do me a small favour?" I wet my lips slowly, "Could you look into a family, surname Yukimura, they recently moved here. Scott had an incident last night with the daughter; she sort of walked through like a million volts of electricity unscathed."

"Oh, wow," Chris breathed out in amazement, "Yeah, of course I can look into them for you. Maybe stay away from that girl until we know she's not dangerous, okay?"

"Yeah, yeah," I nodded rapidly even though he couldn't see me, "absolutely, you got it."

"When you agree with me that many times, I always worry," Chris admitted softly.

"See you later," I laughed softly, "I'll keep us all out of trouble." I pushed off the wall, slipping my phone into my jacket pocket before I brushed off some paint particles from my dress. Then, I rolled the door open.

I was grateful that the loft looked nothing like the night I'd been their with the twins and Kali. It was colourful and vibrant now, to the point it made my eyes hurt and water. Music boomed from massive speakers, shaking the floor that was already bouncing with the rhythm of dancing, drunk teenagers. All of them were painted in bright, neon colours ranging from glowing skeletons to pretty fairies. It felt like the exact place I could get away with letting my eyes glow yellow without a single consequence. So I let them.

I slipped my jacket off my shoulders, folding it against my arm before I took a few heavy steps down the loft stairs, merging with the crowd. The yellow hue that came with my eyes made the whole room look stranger than it was, all the pain dulling in my eyes.

"Hey!"

I startled lightly, turning to the girl who'd grabbed my arm, a bright pink short wig covering her hair.

"Cool contacts! I love them!" She yelled at me, still dancing randomly.

I snorted, nodding my head quickly, "Thanks! I got them off Amazon!"

"Awesome!" She screamed excitedly, turning away from me and heading towards a very erratically dancing Stiles,

I dug my phone out of my pocket, turning on the camera and pointing it at the human, "You are never going to live this one down, Stilinski..." As I paused the video, something got caught on the side of it, something that glowed brightly.
