SCOTT

☽◯☾

I opened my eyes as I felt something drip on my face, something cold that left tingles across my face, like acid.

I tried to sit up, but for some reason, my body refused to comply. I just stayed still, stuck to my bed like a puppet with cut strings.

"It's okay, Scott, there's no need to panic," a low voice cooed, a tinge of amusement touching the words, "Remember me?"

I moved my eyes as far down as I could, my blood running cold as I found Gerard standing at the end of my bed.

"I see that you do," he began to smile, "good. That makes the next part so much easier." He turned his face up, looking at my ceiling.

I did my best to follow his line of sight, my heart stuttering as I caught sight of lizard-like tail swaying above me. The kanima.

"I warned you there would be consequences for your kind, Scott," Gerard continued, "you just didn't listen. A price has to be paid for that."

"Scott," my mom's voice sounded above me, "Scott, it's okay. Everything is going to be okay."

I tried to move again as I realised I couldn't see her but the kanima had her in his grips.

"You should have stayed away, Scott," Gerard sighed, "there is no place for people like you in this world."

There was a crack, and there was a thump.

The kanima jumped over me to land beside Gerard, its teeth razor-sharp and bared.

"Take this as my last warning."

KOREY

I startled awake to loud screaming, my body snapping up immediately before I rolled and fell to the floor harshly.

My heart pounded rapidly as I recognised the screams to be coming from Scott, so I shot back up, shaking the sleep from my head before I tapped Isaac's shoulder rapidly. "Isaac! Isaac, wake up!"

Isaac's eyes flew open, glowing golden for a split second as he grabbed my hand before he realised who I was and where he was.

"Scott's screaming," I blurted out, "something's happening!"

Isaac blinked a few times before he flung the blanket off himself to follow after me as I shot out of his room and burst into Scott's.

Someone was stood at the foot of Scott's bed. Theo.

"You son of—" My body moved before my mind could think things through, and I managed to hurl Theo across the room as my eyes flashed yellow.

"Scott!" Isaac rushed over to the bed, shaking the boy frantically, "Wake up!"

I stalked towards Theo, letting quiet whirling start up in my ears, "You shouldn't have come here if you wanted to keep being what you are."

Theo breathed heavily as he picked himself up off the floor, the dark veins on his face moving quickly, "Are you threatening me?"

"Did it sound like a compliment?" I quipped, letting one eye cloud over with red while the other stayed yellow.

Theo faltered as the black tether sunk into him, and a moment later, Scott gasped awake, flailing around as Isaac tried to soothe him. Then, the possessed boy sneered, turning away from me before he shot forward, crashing straight through Scott's window.
