"Alright, let's get introductions out of the way, Korey, Peter, Peter, Korey," Derek waved his hand between Peter and I.

Peter smiled widely, holding his hand out, "I've heard a lot about you."

I hummed shortly, my nose wrinkling as I accepted his hand and shook it once, "Yeah... me too."

"I'm sure only good things," Peter drew back before motioning to Derek's living room where the couches had been cleared to the side of the room. "We tried to prepare what you asked as best as we could."

I walked through the loft carefully, eyeing the three dummies that were draped on the floor, filled with sand, and meant to mimic vampires. "I can work with this."

"Great, because if those aren't right, I also have a few other options available," Peter clapped his hands together, "there's a guy in apartment four, real piece of work—"

"Peter, go sit down," Derek huffed shortly, pushing his uncle aside and taking his place, "how do you want to do this, Korey?"

I was supposed to show the pack how to fight vampires and for the most part, I was fine with that, except now I knew that we were dealing with a riser and not just some psychotic turned child. It was a lot of pressure to get everyone ready and fast.

I sighed softly, stepping out towards the dummies, "I'll use one of the dummies to do show and tell. You guys can have the other two to practise on."

"Remind me again how you became such an expert on killing vampires?" Peter frowned in amused confusion.

"Uh..." I shrugged, eyeing one of the smiling dummy faces, "not killing... maiming at best— I mean—" I waved my hand, "I know how to kill them too, but..." I trailed off, glancing at Derek, "well, I'm not supposed to talk about that, am I?"

A knowing look crossed through the older werewolf's eyes, and he offered me a small hesitant smile.

Scott had heard about my attack on Jace. To say he'd been unhappy about it was beyond an understatement, and three days after the meeting, he and I still hadn't spoken.  It was selfish of me, but I didn't regret it, and all I actually cared about was not being tossed out of another pack.

Derek seemed to know that too because he stared meaningfully, "Scott is stubborn and righteous. He can't help it. Just because he says you're wrong, it doesn't mean you are. It just means he can't accept an alternative yet."

My heart dropped again, and I turned back to the dummy, my foot shooting out to kick it across the floor. "Let's hope he's not wrong to doubt me."

"He doesn't dou—"

"Oh, he does," Peter interrupted gleefully, "and he doesn't trust you either. You know why? Cause you're not one of them, you're not in—"

"Hey, Peter," Derek snarled, his eyes flashing as he whipped around, "shut up."

"It's fine," I masked the hurt in my heart under a level of anger, "I already knew all of that."

Derek sighed, "Korey—"

The loft door rattled, and I could smell the rest of the pack behind it, "Heart to heart's over. You can Venmo me for the therapy bill."

It felt funny to watch the entire pack plus Derek and Peter standing in front of me, all patiently waiting and watching as if I were a teacher.
