"Is it weird that I'm nervous?" I mumbled, stepping off the back of Scott's bike and dragging the helmet off my head.

"About what? The mass murderer you found in the library who got away or meeting Kira's parents for the first time?" Scott teased, following my lead and getting off his bike.

"Definitely the latter," I snorted, "a mass murderer is basically child's play in comparison to a disappointed parent. Why do you think no super villain has ever been able to defeat your mom?"

"You know, now that you mention it, that's a good point," Scott pulled a face before sighing and looking towards Kira's front door. "Rock, paper, scissors on who knocks and initiates conversation?"

"Aren't you meant to be a big bad alpha?" I scoffed, turning to him and meeting his sheepish stare. We both just watched each other intently for a moment before both our hands flew forward, "Paper!"

"Rock—ah!" Scott groaned, whipping around to bang his head on the handles of his bike.

"It's alright, buddy," I pat his back, smirking at the house in front of us, "I'm sure you'll wow them with your expert conversational skills and never-ending charisma."

"I hate you," Scott grumbled, straightening himself out again before taking a step towards the house.

"Hate you too, sunshine," I rolled my eyes, following his lead and, for the most part, hiding behind him.

Scott raised his fist to the door, knocking three times before he jerked his hand back, looking at me, "Was three too much? Should I have done two?"

"Oh absolutely," I feigned seriousness, "three just shows you're trying too hard, you know? Like do you think they can't hear you? Come on, Scott, pull yourself together."

"You are the worst," Scott grinned, reaching back to shove my shoulder, "I should have brought Stiles instead and said it was you."

"Her dad teaches history to me," I spluttered, amusement rushing through me, "he would know the difference."

"Only if he looks closely," Scott teased before spinning back around, coming face to face with Mr Yukimura as he opened the door.

Over Scott's shoulder, I peered into the courtyard of the house, raising my arm to wave at Kira as she stood in the doorway of her living room, her eyes wide and surprised.

"Hey," Scott greeted her.

She offered us both a weak smile before she groaned under her breath, disappearing down a corridor with embarrassment radiating off her.

"Uh..." Scott banged his fist into the side of the door, "nic— stunning home you have."

"Smooth, Scott," I mumbled low enough for only him to hear, "so smooth."

His only response was to kick his foot back into my knee, his smile slightly more strained.

"Please come in," Mr Yukimura smiled at us, "welcome to our home."

"Thank you, Sir," I stepped in after Scott, sticking to his side like glue, "I love what you've done with all the plants. It's so vibrant."

"Suck up," Scott whispered under his breath, his shoulder knocking into mine on purpose.

"I wouldn't have to suck up if you weren't as awkward as a baby deer learning to walk," I shot back, my smile remaining plastered on my face as Mr Yukimura looked between us.
