"Babe?"

"Hm?" Isaac grunted in response before continuing to mutter under his breath about the formulas he was studying. He was hunched over a textbook, sitting cross-legged on my bed.

"Hypothetically speaking, if I needed to bury a body—"

"I'd grab my shovel," Isaac's lips twitched up slightly, but he didn't look up from the homework.

"You have a shovel?" I snorted as my heart fluttered, fiddling with the loose ends of my knitted blanket.

"I bought one after I met you, figured it would come in handy eventually," Isaac mumbled before he rubbed his eyes. "Okay, we need to finish this."

"Ah... yes," I muttered, my excitement dulling back to boredom, "chemistry... love it..."

"Which of the following gases has the weakest attractive forces between particles?" Isaac read out a question from our chemistry homework.

"I don't care," I raised my head from my arms as I used them as pillows while I laid across my bed. "Next question."

Isaac snorted, marking down the answer on both of our sheets. "The ideal gas law is successful for most gases because of what?"

I looked back at him, "I'm losing my will to live, but also, there's a large distance between gases."

Isaac wrote down the answer quickly, nodding along as he mouthed the words before he sighed, dropping his pen to flick through the textbook. "I don't get why you're doing AP chemistry. You hate formulas, you hate theories, you hate the kid who sits next to you in class because apparently he breathes too loud—"

"He does!"

"My point," Isaac rolled his eyes, slamming the textbook closed before he moved onto his stomach, sliding across the bed to lay beside me, "is that I can't think of a single reason for you to be in this class."

I scoffed lightly, "I'm smart?"

"Obviously," Isaac reached out to poke my side, "but you're smart everywhere. You're good at math, Korey. No one is good at math. What I mean is why pick chemistry of all the other options? Why pick French?"

"Uh..." I rolled my lips together before I flopped around onto my back, staring up at the ceiling, "so that I can study the chemistry between us?"

Isaac snorted shortly before laughing quietly, bending his head onto his clasped hands as he shook his head.

I grinned at his reaction, "And so I can ask you important questions like voulez-vous coucher avec moi?

His laughter grew, his dimples digging into his cheeks as he turned to beam at me. "Absolutely oui, but after we finish our homework."

"Are you sure about that?" I bat my lashes at him, shuffling towards him and dropping my head back on his arms.

He hummed softly, setting his forehead down on top of mine before he whispered. "I'll make it worth your while."
