Going Over Numbers

The next morning Ray wakes up to Chris being gone. Missing him already she decides she better get ready it's going to be another long day. Leaving Lisa and the four pups sleeping, Ray goes to get a cup of tea in the kitchen. She passes the bathroom an amused smile starts on her face, Chris is in the shower singing off key. He did not leave; he is still here. The front door opens with Micah walking in.

Good morning, Micah. I'm making myself some tea; would you like some coffee or tea with me?

Where is Chris? He didn't stay in his room.

He's in the shower.

He doesn't belong in this house!

He belongs with me, hes, my mate.

You belong to me. We are engaged! When you turn eighteen, we are to marry.

Micah, I am happy. Do you want to take away my happiness?

I can make you happy. I have made you happy for the last two years.

You would not be happy married to me, not with my girls. I love you as my friend as my brother not as a mate or husband.

The pups are all girls. You didnt even a boy? Micah seems even more disappointed.

I can see it on your face, you are not happy with the girls. You never wanted a lot of kids; you planned on two boys and that was it. They had to wait until you were 28.

I could get used to them. It would have been easier if you had a boy or two.

You'd never love them. It wouldnt be fair to them or you. It wouldnt make either one of us happy. After some time, I would resent you for ignoring them and then you would hate me for picking them over you at times. It is better for you to find someone else.

How can you say that? I dont even know how I will feel give me time to get use to the way things are.

Micah, I am mated to your brother. I love him beyond explanation.

Did you have sex with him last night? You arent even mated yet, he better not have touched you.

No, I didn't. He laid with me and listened for the pups to cry, he even helped me feed them last night.

That's not a man's job. Micah retorts.

No, it's not, but it is a father's job. You will find someone else. Micah, you do not need me.

Don't say that to me. I have been in love with you my whole life. When they sent Chris away, they said you were mine.

They had no right to do that, to give you false hope that was not fair. What they did made me go through this to bring me back to Chris. The one the moon goddess picked for me.

I will not let you go. It hurts too much to even think about. If I lost, you all together it will kill me. Do you know how crazy I was when we couldnt find you?.

Chris steps out of the bathroom looking at Ray and Micah. He realized there's something wrong and walked over to them. Whats the matter in here?

She's mine, she does not belong to you anymore.

She's mine and I will not give her up. I have told you that over and over, I will not give her up again.

She was promised to me. That means whatever you are claiming does not matter.

Micah, you are my brother and I love you, but you will not take my mate. The moon goddess gave her to me. For the last two years I have hated all of you for taking her from me. My life has been an empty shell. Now that she is back, I will not go back to that empty feeling again.
