Water

The next night Jamie and Sam go with Ray to the river. Are you sure no one is out here? Ray was nervous.

Dont worry, Im sure its safe.

The water is so beautiful here; others must want to swim here.

I promise this is a safe place for you to practice. Sam says. We've gone on the mountainside of the river, it is full of the rocks and boulders, thats why nobody really comes here to swim.

There's no place to sit and have picnics or enjoy the water here, they always go to the meadow side with the grassy field. Jamie adds.

OK just double checking I get a tad pit nervous out here in the open. We dont have the coverage of the trees. Ray tells both men.

We understand Luna, we want you safe too.

Ready when you are, Mariah. Now what do I do?

It's just like doing the wind but this time it's water. Mariah makes it sound so simple. You need to learn how to lift the water up and throw it.

With this power can I make it rain at will? It would be nice if I could soak our dear Alpha when he gets mad. When Mariah doesnt respond Ray tilts her head. It would cool him off.

Mariah wants to be tough and tell her to stop playing but the twinkle of laughter in her eyes makes her laugh. I could picture him walking around with a rain cloud over his head. Once you get your powers under control we are going to sneak around and drench him.

Ray starts to laugh harder. You are just like me and dont want to own up to it. Come on Mariah admit it you like to play just like I do.

Mariah gives Ray a stern look, This is not the time for games or a jokes!

I'm only playing, Mariah. You get short to fast and are no fun at all. Ray pouts.

Not when we need to get work done that is this important. Mariah sounds stern. You can control wind with just a finger, now you're going to have to start doing that with water.

Youre right I need to concentrate. It would still be nice to have fun once in a while.

Mariah knows how young Ray is and hates being this hard on her, but she knows she must push her. Go over to the river and fill your hand up with water. Take a finger from your other hand and spin the water around.

This is harder than the wind. I cant get this right; it just sits there.

I am trying Mariah, thirty minutes and nothing. We have been out here a while; we are going to have to get back. Give it one more try and thats it. Then the water seemed to jump in her hand. It moved did you see it? It moved.

Told you, you could do it. Try one more time. This is much harder than air because it has more weight. Mariah begins to explain. That means you have to concentrate harder to get water to work for you.

Ive been concentrating as hard as I can. Give me a little more time I will get it.

Start by thinking about the water in your hand. What, you want it to do.

I stare at the water and picture what I want it to do, just as she said, concentrating hard. Then, suddenly, the water lefts up and begins to spin in the air forming a little tunnel. It is doing it.

Float it in the air, you can do it Ray.

The water lifts off my hand then starts to spin right there in front of me, in midair with nothing under it. I accomplished it, but its late and I am exhausted can we go home now?

We'll come back tomorrow, it is going to take a little longer for you to mastered it, but I knew you could do it. Mariah sounded proud of me.

When I control the rain does that mean I'll control the thunder and lightning?

I understand. This stress is overwhelming for both of us. I will try to stop pushing you so hard.

I have been practicing for over a week now and water is getting easier to control, I even control it in the bathtub. The first time I tried I made such a mess that Mariah didnt talk to me for the rest of the day. Do you want to start the third gift? I have this one down pat.
