"We were there for two days; waiting and hiding. It's what we are taught to do when hunters find us. Hide and heal"

"Okay, so, is two days standard, then, or are we thinking Derek's on, like, some extended getaway?" Stiles asked impatiently

"Why do you care?" Cora asked

"Why do I care? Let's see... Because, over the last few weeks: my best friends tried to kill themselves; Scott's boss nearly got ritually sacrificed; a girl that I've known since I was three was ritually sacrificed; Boyd was killed by Alphas... I- Do you want me to keep going? 'Cause I can, all right? For, like, an hour!"

Irene sighed and stayed quiet, picking at the skin on her fingers. She hated any mention of what happened at the motel and now any mention of Boyd. How many more people she loved would die because she couldn't protect them?

Suddenly Cora began to approach them, standing in front of the table with her arms crossed as she looked down at Stiles who was sitting on the steps

"You think Derek can do anything about that?" She said

"Well, since he's the one everyone seems to be after, it's more like he should do something about it, yeah" Stiles replied

"I don't know... There's something different about him now. He wasn't like this when I knew him"

"Then what was he like?"

"A lot like Scott actually" A voice said. Stiles, Irene and Cora turned towards the stairs to see Peter walking down and sitting on the lower step. The three of them walked over to him and asked what he meant by that.

"And so what happened? What changed him?" Stiles asked

"Well, the same thing that changes a lot of young men...a girl"

"You're telling me some girl broke his little heart? That's why Derek is the way he is?" Stiles scoffed. Irene rolled her eyes and hit his shoulder "Uh ow-"

"Do you remember Derek, before he was an Alpha, had blue eyes? Do you know why some wolves have blue eyes?"

"I just always thought it was, like, a genetic thing..." Stiles shrugged. Come to think of it, Irene didn't really know the full reason his eyes came to be blue but she knew why hers were. Derek never spoke much about his personal life and that included his eyes. But she knew he must have killed someone for that to happen

"If you want to know what changed Derek, you need to know what changed the color of his eyes"

Peter began to tell them about how back in High School Derek had met a girl, her name was Paige and she was quite a quiet girl compared to other kids. Derek was playing basketball in the hallway with his friends while she was trying to practice in the music room.

Derek being a cocky teenager said that if she could get the ball from him he would stop playing basketball inside so she could practice and of course she failed to get the ball back from him.

"Okay, so if Derek was a sophomore back then, how old was he? How old were you? How old are you now?" Stiles asked, bombarding Peter with questions

"Not as young as we could have been but not as old as you might think" Peter replied

Irene slowly turned her head to face Peter who was sitting beside her after they had all moved towards the couch. She let out an amused exhale at the frustrated expression on Stiles' face as Peter answered his question with a very confusing answer. Stiles then turned to Cora

"Ok that was frustratingly vague. How old are you?"

"I'm seventeen" She replied

"See, that's an answer. That's how we answer people!"
