she didn't need to ask.

Feeling like being on cloud nine can't even begin to describe the sheer elation coursing through her veins. With the bike's handlebars in one hand and Yeji's soft fingers intertwined with hers in the other, she felt like she was walking on clouds, with no signs of ever descending back to Earth.

It was fucking incredible.

Ryujin turned her head slightly, stealing a fleeting glimpse of the woman her heart had longed for. Despite walking behind the rest of the group, heading back to the house, it felt as though the world around them had dissolved, leaving just the two of them.

Perhaps she had been staring for a touch too long. A dimple appeared on Yeji's cheek as her eyes crinkled with a soft smile. Heat surged through Ryujin's body, a blush creeping up her cheeks as she realized she had been caught. Yet, Yeji was the same.

Ryujin's body felt like a field of daisies, each touch of Yeji's thumb on the back of her hand causing flowers to bloom within her. Eventually, Yeji turned to look at her with those feline eyes, brimming with nothing but love.

Ahead of them, Lia couldn't help but glance over her shoulder, not-so-discreetly observing the new couple. It was as if she were watching a K-drama where the lead couple finally confessed their feelings after countless episodes. Or like reading a fanfiction online where her favorite ship finally got together after nearly 40 chapters.

Seulgi shot a glare at the scientist for her intense staring, nudging her in the ribs, which elicited a loud groan. Lia rubbed her side, squinting at the lieutenant who returned a smirk, secretly enjoying the sight of the couple behind them.

It wasn't that they minded the other members knowing about their feelings for each other; deep down, they all seemed to have known before they did. But now that everything was out in the open, they felt an overwhelming sense of happiness, as if a missing piece had finally been found. They felt complete.

"Shit," Yeji groaned, her hand pressing against her side as she hunched over, her face contorted in pain.

Everyone halted in their tracks, their attention snapping to Yeji, concern etched on their faces.

Ryujin swiftly moved to Yeji's side, placing a comforting hand on her back and rubbing it gently. "What's wrong?" she asked, her eyes widening with worry.

Yeji withdrew her hand from her side, revealing traces of blood staining her palm. "I think the stitches ripped," she muttered, her teeth gritted in discomfort.

Ryujin's jaw clenched tightly at the sight. She hated seeing Yeji in pain. Without hesitation, she guided Yeji's free arm over her own and handed the bike over to Lia as they quickly made their way back home.

As they reached the driveway, Ryujin couldn't help but notice the blood slowly seeping through Yeji's shirt. The group hurried through the front door, their senses on high alert for the rat still lurking around.

"Here's my bag," Ryujin said, passing her backpack to Chaeryeong.

Chaeryeong opened the bag to find the boxes of poison crushed, almost flattened, but thankfully still intact. "Great," she replied with a small smile. Then, she turned to the scientist. "Take Yeji to the bedroom, and Lia will come and take a look at her wound."

"Ehh. I'm sure Ryujin is more than capable of tending to Yeji," Lia interjected with a smirk.

She rolled her eyes, and she could swear she saw Yeji smiling with excitement. Ryujin adjusted Yeji's arm, bearing all of her weight as she carefully guided her upstairs into their bedroom.

Once they reached the bedroom, Ryujin settled Yeji on the edge of the bed and gently helped her peel off her jacket. She neatly folded it, placing it carefully on her own bed.
