"Every time I come home, the floor's covered in dirt."
Seulgi had been away on a mission for the past couple of days, overseeing an outbreak of a disease in a small town four hours from their base. As the commanding lieutenant, it was her duty to report back to higher-ups, but now, finally, she was home, ready to be with her wife.
Joohyun emerged from the kitchen with an excited grin, her hands caked in dirt as she made her way over to Seulgi.
"I wanted the garden to be perfect for when you came home," Joohyun said with a bright smile, lifting her dirty hands to hold Seulgi.
But Seulgi quickly took a step back, holding up a hand. "Clean your hands first," she said, narrowing her eyes with a teasing smirk.
Joohyun pouted, "Let me kiss you!"
"Not with those grubby hands!"
Joohyun gave her wife a death glare. "Seulbear... come give me a kiss," she purred, leaning in. "Let me hold those squishy cheeks."
"No!"
With that, Joohyun leapt toward her wife, hands flying in the air as Seulgi scrambled to defend herself from the unclean hands. When Joohyun's hands landed on her armpits, Seulgi surrendered with a soft laugh, her cheeks now stained with the dirt from Joohyun's fingers.
"Got you!"
"My face..." Seulgi pouted, her voice soft as she let herself melt into her wife's arms.
She let out a soft chuckle before lowering her voice, "Now kiss me..."
Seulgi, unable to resist the commanding tone of her wife, closed the gap between them. Their lips met in a passionate kiss, deepening as Seulgi lifted Joohyun effortlessly. The older woman's legs instinctively wrapped around Seulgi's waist, and the lieutenant carried her toward the couch, gently lowering Joohyun onto the cushions.
Joohyun pulled away for a moment, catching her breath. "Let me wash my hands first–"
Seulgi smirked, her voice low and teasing. "You won't need your hands."
As the sun dipped below the horizon and their clothes lay in a forgotten heap on the living room floor, the couple shared soft, contented giggles. Their arms wrapped around each other, their bare skin pressed close.
"I've missed you, Seul..." Joohyun whispered, her fingertips tracing the curve of Seulgi's collarbone.
"I'm sorry I had to be on call," Seulgi replied, letting out a deep sigh as Joohyun's touch sent a wave of warmth through her body.
Joohyun smiled, brushing a strand of hair from Seulgi's face. "It's part of your job, Seul. It's what I signed up for when I made my vows six months ago."
Seulgi closed her eyes, a soft, nostalgic smile playing on her lips as she remembered their wedding day—the warm sand beneath her feet, the gentle sound of the waves lapping at the shore, and their family and friends along with her unit, gathered around them. Yuna's bright smile had stood out among the rest, her bubbly energy filling the air.
She remembered the fear she had felt, standing at the altar, wondering if she was worthy of a woman as divine as Joohyun.
But all those doubts had melted away the second she saw Joohyun walking down the aisle in that radiant white dress. In that moment, as their eyes met, Seulgi knew with certainty that she would spend her life loving and protecting this woman.
