Hi lovelies,

Sorry for the delay in chapters. I was going through something and was in a bad headspace, which is why I wasn't able to update. But I'm on the way to getting normal now, and here is a new chapter.

Thank you all for your well wishes, concerns, and for patiently waiting. I'll also answer all your questions soon — and yes, here's the new chapter!

Love you all!

By the way, whatever I write under Girl's Girl are anonymous submissions from fellow readers. They are not my personal problems :)

This chapter has 3500+ words and ends with a Girl's girl so make sure you read till the end 🩷

**** Pritham ****

"Anything on your mind, Pritham?" the King asked as we both walked back from the river.

Of course... A LOT!

How can the King of the Five Kingdoms randomly ask a girl to marry him? How can the most self-obsessed man touch a girl's feet? Why did the girl run away at sunset? And most importantly, why am I always the one who sees things that could potentially get me into trouble?

"No... nothing, Your High—" I paused and corrected myself, "Nothing, sir."

"Nothing, really?" The King lifted an eyebrow. "Nothing you've heard while snooping around my personal conversations sparked surprise or curiosity?"

I remained silent and looked away, not knowing what to say.

Why am I getting caught all the time? Why am I turning into Vinod?

"It's bad to hear other people's private conversations, Pritham," the King stated.

Says the man with snake ears who hears people's conversations ALL THE TIME!

However, I didn't say it out loud and kept it to myself.

"I told everyone that we are friends, Pritham," the King smiled. "And friends don't give each other this much respect. I know there's something you wish to say. Say it, I won't be offended."

"Your Highness... Madhav..." I said, a little hesitant. "I'm just... confused about how quickly you asked a girl to marry you."

"Confused?" the King asked. "Is that the right word?"

"Concerned," I corrected, not having the energy to be politically correct anymore. "She would be the future Queen, and we can't just let anyone take that position. We know nothing about her... She panics whenever she sees the army, never gives a proper answer to any questions regarding her past, and as much as I hate to say this... it is suspicious."

"What is so suspicious about an innocent woman, Pritham?" the King said, clearly offended.

"With all respect, sir, we had a ten-year-old kid come in as a spy," I countered. "I'll be the first person to advocate that the Easterners shouldn't be unfairly judged, but if someone is going to be the Queen, it is important to do due diligence and check her background before marrying her."

The King paused for a while, thinking.

"Fine," he said at last. "I'll make sure you meet her tomorrow. Ask your questions and do the due diligence."

"But I want her to be treated with respect," he warned. "Utmost respect."

"Of course, sir," I nodded, and we continued walking... although my mind is still suspicious about this mysterious lady.
