Who is this Avanthika? How is she related to the crown, and why did the calmest people I know act so rudely with her?

Perhaps if I were closer, I would've been able to hear their conversation, but given the distance, I couldn't do that either... and while I did not know who she is... my heart broke when I saw her like that... on her knees... eyes full of pain... as if a bird's wings have been cut off... which is why I rolled down the bangle... did not even think before doing so... what am I supposed to say when Dheeru notices it? I obviously can't lie to him... I was engrossed in my thoughts when I heard Santosh's words.

"Why are all these cans so heavy, bhabhisa?" he said as he walked into the house with the huge steel cans that I got from my home in either hand, followed by Kishore with two other cans and Dheeru with two more.

"Amma and I made sweets and snacks for the family, Deversa," I smiled.

"All of these for two people?" Santosh chuckled, looking around.

"Family includes officers and kids from the orphanage too," I smiled back.

"Really?" Santosh's eyes lit up. "Bhabhisa, you are amazing!"

I smiled back. "We also made your favorite boondi," I said, pointing towards a can, "It's in that one."

"Then bhabhisa, I am going to have some right now," Santosh said and was about to open the can, but General Sir stopped him.

"Don't act like a child," he said and looked at me. "Get a plate," he told me and turned back to his soldier. "Wash your hands, look at everything that is there, take what you want, sit on the dining table and eat," he instructed Santosh.

"Yes, sir," Santosh smiled and followed me to get the plate.

"Help yourself," he told Kishore, "And get other soldiers who are on break too."

"Make tea for the boys, love, it will go well with the snacks," he added. "I will go get Meenakshi."

"Yes, sure," I replied from the kitchen and heard the footsteps of him leaving.

At least Meenakshi will be back, and that might keep me away from my thoughts for a while.

"General sir!" Mayil exclaimed the moment she opened the door. "You are back? That means Pritham is back too?"

"I mean..." she hesitantly corrected, "...it's been daunting to take care of the Mukunda committee all by myself..."

"Yes, we are all back," I replied. "Where is Meenakshi?"

"She is in her room," Mayil smiled. "Meenu, look who is home!" she yelled, and within seconds Meenu came and hugged me.

"General sir, you are back," she said, hugging me tight. "I missed you so much!"

"I missed you too," I said, placing my hand on her head.

"Let's go," I said, holding her hand and turning around to make a move, but she stopped in her feet.

"I don't want to come with you," she whispered, and my very first reaction was to look at Mayil, wondering if it's her influence.

"I... I... admit I have a tendency to create disputes, sir, but this has nothing to do with me," she immediately confessed.
