FOR THE PAST FIVE WEEKS, Anna had been wearing long sleeves to class. It was the middle of fall, so Philly tended to get a bit chilly these days, so no one questioned it. She had been sitting in class, Anna's leg bouncing nervously as Mr Feeny spoke, tugging at her sleeves everytime they lifted slightly. She was seated next to her new friend, Colton. She had meet him this year in her history class. She liked him, he reminded her of Eric.

"I'm sure you're all aware of the conflict in Burundi which is now spilling over into Rwanda and Uganda." Feeny explained, pacing the class as he taught. Colt scoffed, leaning over to whisper to Anna.

"He's making these names up. He's finally run out of stuff to teach."

Anna nodded, raising his eyebrows to show Colt she agreed.

"The Burundian conflict centers on class differences between the poorer Hutus and the richer Tutsis." Feeny continued, now causing Anna to shift in her seat.

"We're gonna have to put a bag over him and drag him out of the room." She explained, Colt nodding along.

"That way, we save his dignity. Smart, I like it."

The two shook hands like they had finished a business deal, and then turned to listen to Feeny.

"Class differences, the strife between the have and the have-nots, a perennial source of misery on our planet." He explained, before standing in the front of the classroom. "Another source of misery, I expect each of you to do a paper on this topic during Thanksgiving break."

The entire class erupted in groans, Colt shaking his head with disappointment as he turned to Anna.

"He's trying to drag us down with him."

"But before we break for the holiday, I want to congratulate you all on this year's food drive. I mean, you've shown real generosity and selflessness. That said, this year's winner is Anna Hunter." The room clapped as Colt rolled his eyes, watching as Anna theatrically bowed in the front as she accepted her gifts.

"Oh, yeah!"

"Mr. Feeny, this is so unfair. She just keeps turning in the same cans year after year." One of the students whined, making Anna shrug.

"Hey, my family gives them to the food bank, the food bank gives them to my family, my family gives them back to the food bank. It's life in the food bank chain." Anna explained, rubbing her hands together as she turned to Mr Feeny. "So, what'd we win, Mr. Feeny?"

"A box of stuffing."

"Ooh." She cheered, looking up excitedly as Anna took the box of stuffing.

"Have a wonderful holiday, and don't forget that paper." Mr Feeny announced as the bell rang, all the students groaning as they left the classroom.
